What is the ideal results in this one? Bearing in mind Fleetwood play Wimbledon the following game, quite difficult to know what to want.

It doesn't matter what we want so long as we get something out of the game tomorrow. :)

I get the "we have to focus on ourselves" but when it's that tight at the bottom you absolutely have to look at the other fixtures that can affect you. This is a huge one.

If or rather when we beat Portsmouth tomorrow , Wimbledon won't be able to catch us so then a Wimbledon win against Fleetwood would be what we want.

Having conceded 84 , it would be quite an achievement to stay up on goal difference

Gillingham seem more resilient and have steadily picked up points over the past few months. I feel they have a bit more momentum/confidence, and an ability to really grind out results.

Fleetwood have a lot more flair and attacking ability in their side, but have been really good at completely imploding. Only got one win in 16 games, and that was against Crewe. They have a game in hand but it's against Sheffield Wednesday, who look bang on it and will likely need the three points for getting into the playoffs.

At the moment, I'm leaning towards thinking Gillingham will finish higher. The only slight curveball is the fact that Fleetwood have Wimbledon next weekend, who look absolutely shot after losing to Crewe on Friday. That's a huge chance for three points that I think Fleetwood have it in them to get.

We've got a very slight goal difference (+2) over Gillingham. If we lose 1-0 and 2-0 they draw two games, they'd be on the same points, and have a better goal difference. Too tight to think that's a safety net.

So how did that work out then?

I think we need Fleetwood to beat both of them.

Point each, as we were before today but with a game less to go. Not a bad result in the end!

Big positive though is Paddy Lane being suspended for the rest of the season now - I think many would agree he's Fleetwood's best player.

Charlie Kelman also suspended for Gillingham now too - not quite as impactful to them but a decent player and one of very few attacking options the Gills have.

Sounds like he may have gone off with a pretty bad injury, so the suspension may be moot!

Fleetwood vs Wimbledon next

Wimbledon on 36 points can go level with Fleetwood on 39 points so will be going for it.
