45 games so far

Postby Redalert1970 » Sat Mar 12, 2022 7:32 pm

League

Played 37
Won 7
Drawn 11
Lost 19
For 46
Against 70

Cup

Played 8
Won 3
Drawn 1
Lost 4
For 9
Against 13

Total

Played 45
Won 10
Drawn 12
Lost 23
For 55
Against 83

Pretty obvious where the problem lays

Still 9 massive games to go but it's going to be a very very big ask to survive now

Morecambe are playing well structured football. Our last 10 games have been alternate draws and defeats. I would suggest that this trend could have an unfortunate outcome

I've seen five wins. Four of which were in August and September! Miraculously we are still in touching distance but our form for the last six months has been very poor

Been quite an adventure, but quite a few now are throwing the towel in, not great watching winless performances week after week

I have not given up but it`s going to be very tough

We probably need at least 4 wins from last 9 games - but in football anything is possible

Most pundits would have got us relegated already

The last thing we want to do as fans is give up already but it felt like we had yesterday. At the start of the season I thought this was a free hit, a once in a life time ride that we had to enjoy. If we went down then so be it, just enjoy living it. I have had some of my best days watching Morecambe this season and I wouldn't change the last 45 games. We have gone from 800 fans to selling the ground out, we have taken over away pubs and been to the best stadium in world football. Don't let it go sour for the last 9 games, lets keep fighting and enjoying this unreal experience. If we go down we go down but be proud of how far we as a club have come.

Totally agree Berlin Waller

Who would have thought 15 / 20 years ago we would be playing league football never mind league 1 football

We have been to Sunderland, Bolton, Sheffield Wed and Portsmouth just to name a few on a level playing field - if the worst happens and we go down then so be it (we build again and who knows next year could be another promotion)

The 45 game ride as been great - lets make the last 9 games even greater

Totally agree. We go in to the last game of the season playing Sunderland.

Morecambe v Sunderland in a League match.

Who would have thought that would ever happen
???

Who knows, we may go in to that game, still having survival to play for. But if by then we're already relegated, then go to the game and enjoy it. It's been an amazing experience and The Mazuma has been rocking on occasions. Morecambe selling out league matches? Beating Blackburn? Leading Spurs for so long that they had to bring the England captain on to turn things around? Playing huge teams, with real history, like Ipswich & Sheffield Wednesday as equals?

And, if we do go down, we receive 'parachute payments', which will help to keep our future secure.

Let's get behind the lads, make a noise and enjoy the rest of the ride. Hopefully we'll sell as many season tickets next season as this, no matter which league we're in.

So how did that work out then?

People's finances are being hit in ways not seen for nearly 50 years. It's going to be hard for any club to replicate sales for this season. None of that obviously is the clubs' faults, but it's going to impact on incomes next season.
