why has SR slowly axed nearly all our Wembley hero's

and look how wev'e ended up

Toums has played for most of this season, but the form of Jones has kept him out of the side recently. The midfield is looking currently looking fairly strong.

Phillips was given a good run of games recently by Robinson, but his form took an absolute nosedive and he's understandably been dropped.

Cooney is the one I'd potentially argue for, although McLaughlin hasn't done a great deal wrong when in the side.

Letheren had a run in the side, lost his place after a couple of howlers against Wycombe, then when he was given a chance to play and maybe reclaim his shirt in the Papa Johns he unfortunately was injured in the warm up.

Gibson is competing with Leigh for the left back spot, who's probably been one of our best players of late. I like Gibson, but would you really be picking him ahead of Leigh right now?

We've also lost plenty of games with all these players in the side. That performance away at Burton featured all these players. I'm not in any way saying it was all their fault - but what I am saying is that trying to make out that Robbo 'axing' Wembley heroes is a particular issue is a bit silly.

but when these players were involved more at the start of the season things were going well, and as they have been phased out of the side things have taken a dive !

I think toums could be accommodated in front of the back four and pull the strings to Callum,Archie and Shane, a little like Kalvin Phillips role for England
Just an idea

I think that's a good idea glagys. I just dont understand how in a team that is struggling we leave Toums on the bench. I've said it before and will say it again he is the best footballer at our club imo.

Really hope SR can turn things around. He has a style of play that has produced some brilliant attacking football. However, right now we need some grit of last year's team. Keeping everything crossed Cole sticks around, injured players come back and some experienced players with leadership skills come in.

I think that midfield 3 is all about balance. It seems he has struck one with Mclaughlin, Jones and Alfie. Toums SHOULD be one of the first on the teamsheet but for all his qualities he does not offer the Songo screening we need and leaves our defence exposed. Same with Philips..obvious goal threat but not much else. These 3 complement each other well and offer a little more protection to a shaky defence

This is pretty much how I see it too. Toums to sit out until either an injury or loss of form brings him back in, but at the moment, the three starting haven't done anything wrong to deserve being dropped.

So how did that work out then?

Yes, I've said elsewhere, that would be my preference. But if not, then the three who currently have the shirts should keep them.
