Which Red Robbo will reply to Charlie? Sometimes I think 10 people have access to that account the man contradicts himself that much.

Welcome to the "having to put Neil right" club Charlie, I think Rod is a VIP member.

So I wonder if the quotes of 225k are way off the mark or did the board feel that was good value for someone who could leave in the summer.

We will probably never know.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.

AppleShrimp wrote:Hi @RedRobo: The BoD, Owners and management were all very satisfied with the terms of the SL transfer. It was not undervalued, but it was undisclosed. We have come out of the transfer window with an excellent squad and strong funds from two major sales. We wish Sam and Carlos all the very best. Top priority continues to be the development of academy and first team players and signing them up on longer contracts. This will I allow us to have a long term revenue stream as part of the 3YP and beyond to make us sustainable, profitable and competitive in League One and higher in the future. We would never sell ourselves short, please rest assured. Thanks for your support. Regards CA. UTS

Hi CA,
I suppose having supported our club for 65 years since 1956, 'our club' has become 'MY club' and it has become almost a way of life like many others no doubt.

As a result I often let my passion for the club get the better of me and I express my thoughts about club matters that I freely admit have absolutely nothing to do with me; an example being the amount of transfer fees both incoming and outgoing.

The club are now in a period of high expectation the like of which I have never witnessed before and like a few others I've expressed an opinion about recent transfer activity that in light of what other clubs are reported to have sold similar players for, appears to have undervalued one of our growing assets based on pure speculation without anyone outside of Boardroom knowing the actual fee involved.

It is however excellent to know that the fee for Sam will help in the development of our club going forward and will contribute to the strong financial structure that is now being put in place.

I appreciate the response to my concerns and like others am delighted that our club is looking forward to a successful and progressive future.

UTS.....

Regards
Neil

Hi Neil, thanks for your reply. Just to clarify that I was responding to your post to clarify that all Shrimps fans can rest assured that we will always do the best thing for our club, whether that be transfers or anything else. Very rarely is anything in the press or social media 100% true but I can understand why people choose to consider information from all corners. If you listen to the podcast we released this morning it details the Sam transfer process so you might find that interesting.

Furthermore, I like to think that I am a very open communicator, both online and in person and will always answer questions that are not confidential nor sensitive, will always respond to requests and will always clarify points raised.

That’s all I did in this case and was not angry nor offended by your post and took onboard your perspective, which led me to respond.

Cheers
CA

Listening to the podcast it sounds like everyone at the club was very happy with the deal so maybe the figures mentioned in the media are way off.

Just been reading the Charlton Fc forum and it is very interesting to say the least .....

Sam was not their first choice (They were after Jason Kerr - who went to Wigan instead so they came back in for Sam at last minute)

Also one or two fans said he was way of the pace yesterday !!!!

Interesting how fans at all clubs view their players in different ways.

A few Charlton fans were not impressed with Sam, one calling him a donkey :o whilst others said he was excellent giving him their star player rating.

So it's not just ourselves who view our players differently....

Just wondering who will take the blame if as a result of selling Sam we slip into serious trouble, conceding lots of goals. Is it the directors who sold Sam or the manager who must have felt he was replaceable? Just asking as I thought defensively we were very poor last Saturday!

Sam said that our club was 'slack and shoddy' with certain players 'not pulling their weight'.....before DA came in.
