Think so. Toumani lives in Leeds, so I think he’s a certainty and Letheren uses the same agent as Adams. Would imagine at least six will go with him.

Do you really think so, Posh?
Do you remember how everybody despised Graeme Westley when he did the same to Farnborough, taking a cache of their best players to Stevenage with him?
If that happens it will sour my feelings about the man.

Although just been stimulated to look up the Westley / Farnboro story. He was also chairman and major share holder and after an FA cup match at Arsenal, a £500,000 FA cup payout appeared to vanish from the club, and then he immediately moved to Stevenage with 7 players and 2 staff. So, a slightly different scenario.

Big difference. Westley stayed on long enough to also take all Farnborough's money from the Arsenal FA Cup game. He basically owned the club. He then raped them for their players and as a result, Farnborough FC went out of business. Westley shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a football club.

With us, the players are out of contract. The majority of the out of contract Morecambe players were brought in by Derek. They know him and trust him. Most have had poor experiences elsewhere, so given the choice of League Two at Bradford, on more money, with a manager who you know will play you, or let your contract run out, and risk no job or a manager who won't play you, what would you do?

You answered your own question while I was typing, but posted anyway :D

Deliberately driving a football club out of business in order to further your career is a pretty crappy thing to do. I'd have used other words to describe him but then I'd have needed to tell myself off and sent myself to the naughty step, because the man is actually, a complete and utter...

Can see quite a few seeing more money at Valley Parade as a decent career option, and who wouldn’t.
Surely Songo’o, Toums, (who lives in Harrogate, not Leeds, but near enough) Gibson, Mellor and maybe NKP, although those two have already played for them, with mixed results.
As for the rest, Cole maybe, Sully and Wildig couldn’t be blamed. We have seen in the past that we pick some lost souls up and polish them and they get better offers. Zak Mills is a case in point.

Gutted to hear this news - but like many, not surprised.
For the integrity shown once DA had accepted the position with us and turning down (was it) Motherwell? - I would have liked to think his comment on Monday of "working to the contract" sounded hopeful, but I guess that statement was "the small print" in the contract, rather than the full term.
But, we're in League 1!!
oh, did I mention, we're in league 1?!!!!!
He could have left earlier, we could have lost the final and we'd still be in the same boat.
So, we have a load of players who are out of contract at the end of this month - some may re-sign, some will probably follow DA - good luck to them, and DA himself.
I really don't see how ANYONE could have done more, quicker than DA.
Any new manager will also have a raft of players who they've worked with in the past, and will more than likely want to bring them in - and the fact that we will have positions to fill, could work for us, not against us.
Also, DA has proved time and again that he's so successful at League 2, what about League 1 though?
Maybe, just maybe he knows this, and wants to add another (hopeful) success story to his CV?
In my mind, you could have the best year 9 school teacher who encourages, educates, instils confidence and sets up their pupils for future life and they will always remember that teacher for the good work they did with them.... but would you put that same teacher in a University, or a 6th form, and expect to get the same results?
This is another chance for the board, with Annapurna's input, again, to find a worthy successor - and as someone has already put, with essentially, a clean sheet.
That brings about its own problems, being such a short closed season, so it's going to be a very busy few weeks I guess!!!

This is the price of success. We have been fantastic this season and other clubs have noticed. Our players will be in demand and our manager has had his head turned by a bigger club in a a lower league.

Derek has left the club in a position we could have only dreamt of and saved us from another 80 years of non league footy.

For me it's Songo, Toums, Gibson & Cooney I am most worried about leaving I think Mellor and NKP can be replaced and I think Lavelle and Carlos are off to bigger and better things.

However like Skyecat says the new person will want to bring in their own players in so it is a good opportunity for someone and for all we know he might not want to play with 2 holding midfielders anyway.

I think even Stockton could be replaced as for all we know the new man might play with 2 x Strikers  and not need a target man.

Definitely. Of the players he brought in Songo’o, Toums, Letheren, Slew and Mellor (?) are all players he’d worked with and he has his pick of them. I suspect he’ll then cherry pick those who don’t think they’d make it in League 1 but could get more money in League 2, which is a fair few of them.

Wonder if it is pure coincidental but it's claimed that the new manager had a hand in deciding what the Bratford retain list was.

We played Bratford at home on the last game of the league season and their retained list was released the following week.

Could it be that DA had a hand in it and if so he's gone down in my opinion.... :?: :?: :?:

We will never know if it was true but for me it was very underhand if true.

Apparently so and if compensation hadn't have been agreed with us before then Bradford could be investigated.

On the other hand the guy is a genius if he can plot our promotion while looking at the Bradford squad and not let it affect us.

Sadly I think Derek is all about Derek and what is best for him he probably sees a potential league 1 relegation as a dent on his CV. He came to do a job and revive his reputation and that's what he has done and now he wants to move on.

I think if you told a Plymouth fan about this they wouldn't be surprised.

It’s not so much as a “claim” as it is “fact”. Their CEO Ryan Sparks said as much.

Sad that he has departed but he's left us on a high which i doubt he could top! The last manager of ours who resigned left a hole but it was filled rather well!
Don't worry be happy!
