The other one Which raised an eye brow was when Carlos got assaulted twice in the second half when play was stopped and got booked for the privilege. Don’t think the officials really saw what went on and just decided to book anyone in the vicinity.

They do seem to think an injury stoppage is an opportunity to have a go at the opposition as we saw at the Mazuma with Songos’ red card. Any long injuries on Sunday just group up and keep away from them.

Carlos maybe got the card for kicking the ball away, which is what caused knob-cheese (sorry, O'Connor, I think ;) ) to try shoving him around.

Ah thanks for clearing that up. Didn't see Carlos do anything on the replay and the game was stopped at the time so I guess irrelevant what he did with the ball. I did see big lump Vaughan forcibly push him in the back with both hands and then the other guy have a real go at him.

Incidentally my eldest son is a teacher of Sports Science at a college in Cambridge. They recently had Cambridge United's performance director in doing some work with their football squad. The subject of the play offs came up and he stated that TRFC had some 'bad eggs' in the camp. I guess that is telling us what we already know. If they are still losing the tie in the latter stages on Sunday our lot need their tin hats and a whole heap of discipline. I'm sure DA will have drummed that into them and they are fully aware how it could pan out.

I thought we slowed down the game at set pieces, particularly with Letheren on goal kicks etc, but I thought they were more cynical.

Vaughan is a particular nasty player I think - shoved NKP into the advertising board, deliberately left one on Letheren when he had plenty of time to stop, and eventually got booked for flying into Gibson with a late sliding challenge.

Carlos did one of those step over the ball and 'accidentally' kick it a couple of yards backwards things - a little mischievous but relatively harmless. The reaction from Tranmere players was shocking.

Cooney holding his face in that kicking incident was a bit naughty, but in fairness he got kicked by their LB first! Much like Afolayan - he hammed it up, but Mellor was daft enough to aim a kick in the first place.

A lot of their impression of us shithousing was based off us scoring from set pieces (completely valid goals) and players going down with injuries. Hendrie came off and is now out for the remainder of the season, and Lyons had blood all over his face!

Yes they have a number of players who are probably fortunate to be playing for a club of Tranmere's status in the game. It appears that they try to substitute actual footballing ability with 'craft', graft and aggression.

Think our lads are up for the challenge and our flair players will have more of an influence on Sunday than the first leg.
