Morecambe 2 [Mendes-Gomes, Wildig] Salford 1 Live thread

Postby Freez » Tue Feb 23, 2021 5:58 pm

Same team as last few games, no changes at all...
Letheren
Mellor Lavelle Knight- Percival Gibson
Diagouraga Songo’o
OSullivan Wildig Mendes- Gomes
Stockton

Subs Halstead Cooney Slew Davis AJ Lyons Mcalinden

It’s us on comms, after 4 away games on the bounce, weather permitting, as it’s sheeting it down but pitch looks Ok as far...

Class act Ian Henderson. I actually met him in a bar in Belmopan about 4 years ago, asked him if he would be tempted to join Morecambe in the next window. He said he wouldn't go as low as the league 2. Times change I guess!

Is the camera lower down or is it the wine.?

Certainly must be covered, no dribbles

New camera angle is 'interesting'. More like the view you get from the terraces rather than the 'overview' that we're used to. At least the camera is staying dry!

Not convinced by us with 3/5 at the back, I still think Songo'o is too useful in midfield and wing-backs don't seem to suit us. Nevertheless, we're playing quite well

Sooner Halstead is back in the better. Think Glen and Freez are being too kind to Letheren.

Shocker right before half-time, we sat back and let them pass it around so it was only a matter of time before someone took a shot with no pressure on. Goalkeeper should have done better but the defenders made it too easy.

Goal keeping error, soft shot to let in but the defence gave their lad far too much space.

Salford have looked a really threatening side, but to be fair to our lot, we’ve competed well and created some opportunities. Poor error from Letheren, I’ve preferred him to Halstead and the other keepers we’ve had recently, but that mistake is really poor, despite him making some brilliant saves since he’s arrived with us. Gibson didn’t do well enough in getting tight to Asante though either! :( Anyway, 45+ minutes to save the game!

Edit(s): I think in general, we’ve done well to block shots and passing lanes across the entire half, but Gibson lost concentration there.

Tough uphill struggle now, but we’ve done reasonably well so there’s no reason we can’t get on the scoresheet in the second half!

That's probably game over... not happy we were doing well upto that major mistake by the keeper...

Disagree, Letheren’s looked quality in many of the games he’s played. Two ‘goal-conceding’ mistakes for him so far, but he’s saved us on many occasions that I just don’t think Mark is capable of (take the fingertip Barrow save for example)

Mark has been unlucky, remember Port Vale away? That was up there with any MFC keeper ever for me.

I don't think Letheren has been that bad at all, but I'd love to know why Mark consistently gets dropped when he doesn't seem much worse than others that get brought in.

Remember that. Also remember Oldham at home, Northampton away, Blackpool away x 2, Tranmere away

Have our long throws ever worked? Just seem guaranteed to give the ball away every time we're in a promising position
