Songo'o alleged homophobic comment

Unless he was buying food, I really can't see how that word could be used in any "normal" kind of scenario - it's really not a word that is in regular use in lots of different contexts - it's either food related or its a homophobic slur.

My point about him being a French speaker was that he knew the word was offensive and so used it against the player receiving treatment but it is possible he didn't know it was homophobic. I am trying to give him the benefit of the doubt!

According to the dictionary the word also means sticks of wood.

Wow I didn't know f*ggot was such a bad word in the UK. In the US it is used pretty regularly among young people but frowned upon as an offensive insult. No where near as bad a n*gger though, no one says that. It is not meant as an insult to the LGBTQ community but just a replacement for saying someone is ridiculous or acts annoyingly socially.

Below is some lyrics from the Pogues Fairy tale of New York song. Maybe that should be banned and not played at Christmas anymore>
You're a bum
You're a punk
You're an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it's our last

This was released in 1987.....things have changed considerably since then. Agree it's still popular though.

And now print the lyrics from the 1992 version, which doesn't use that word and is the version The Pogues themselves prefer people to use.

It's been over a week now, surely we've had the referee's report by now? Still no news about an investigation from Morecambe or the FA

No news is good news

Possibly just a 3 match ban for sending off

I felt we missed him yesterday, good to see Kenyon back but I think he struggled and didn’t look match fit.
Is he one of the players who’ve had Covid?

Maybe the incident wasn't as bad as some make out. The audio wasn't that clear after all.

Like others surprised that to date we've heard nothing of what the referee wrote in his match report....but is it possible that the Tranmere players over reacted ... :?: :?: :?:

No news could be good news.... ;)

Is there an FA website that shows players' suspensions on it ?

The club must know how many games he will miss by now surely.

The FA website shows suspensions/charges for the prior month, i.e. December-20 was published early in January-21. As the incident involving Yann took place at the end of Jan-21 I expect this to be feature in Feb-21, published in March.

A similar question about an update was asked on the Fans' Page (Facebook), Freez advised that the club were still waiting for the requested referees report. I therefore assume that it is still pending with the FA.

It seems odd that people keep bringing this up - we're aware that the club have this matter in hand, and will surely receive an update when the FA has reached its conclusion?!? The fact that a week has now passed is inconsequential at the moment. I don't understand the concern to be honest, especially whilst we continue to know very little about the event itself.

Interestingly this charge against the club appears to be pending, as published for Jan-21 charges:

INCIDENT OF MISCONDUCT
Morecambe FC, English Football League Two

F.A. Anti-Doping Programme – Season 2020/21
Event: OOC – Morecambe FC
Date: 17 November 2020

Breach of FA Rule E25 - It is alleged that on 17 November 2020, Morecambe FC failed to comply with the reasonable instructions of The FA or a Competent Official with regard to the adequacy of the Doping Control Station (which must contain the minimum facilities set out in the Procedural Guidelines), in that the Club did not provide an adequate Doping Control Station for drug testing, contrary to Regulation 16(d) of The FA Anti-Doping Regulations.

The Club have until 27 January 2021 to provide a response.

I wouldn't go that far! It was just a quick google search. I'll show you how to do it one time, when you're not filming your TV screen on your phone!

They will need to get a move in with this. The standard 3 match ban ends after Saturdays game so he would be eligible for next Tuesdays game against Bradford

Surely the FA must have banned him otherwise he could have featured at Stevenage and Bolton.

The FA would take no account of any games that we omitted him from , they would still hand out a ban of a certain length. How many clubs would leave out one of their best players unless he had been officially banned ?

I'm not 100% on this kind of thing, but would he be available after his initial red card ban of three matches is up? Then a further ban would kick in whenever a punishment is decided on?

If we don't try to fight it, Songo'o is apologetic and him/the club make some kind of positive gesture (fund raising, education course, apology statement etc), then I doubt it would be more than 6/7 games.
