Contracts

I know things aren't currently normal, but unless I'm wrong, we only have Sam Lavelle signed up past the end of this season.

I'm assuming this is so that Derek has full flexibility come the summer when we're planning for life in L1?!

In all seriousness, Carlos has always showed great potential and it would be criminal to see him disappear with little or no money to show for it. There are plenty of others who are the backbone to this greatly performing squad who I'm sure would also love the comfort and security of a contract extension.
HOWAY THE SHRIMPS!!!!!

On topic(ish) and proud!

Also is our ground good enough? 3 sides of our ground is standing only and might not meet EFL requirements regarding more seating?

Renewing of certain contracts must be a priority for our owners and BoD as and when we are in a position to move forward thanks to the virus and the crippling effect this has had on our finances.

As much as I would like us to be in EFL1 I think we have to be realistic and ask the question of affordability.

Too many clubs with larger pockets than ours have failed even some to get relegated and are now in the doldrums of non league.

Accy are of course the exception and it could well be that we could follow in their footsteps but at this moment I do not feel we are not in a position to contemplate such a promotion despite the signs looking favourable under the superb stewardship of DA.

For me it's a case of establishing ourselves as a tour de force in EFL2 first and foremost after seasons of negativity and relegation battles.

I agree. Would it be sustainable for us to go up? I think we would need to average at least 4000 every home game.

Look at Yeovil (similar size club to us) went up to Championship and now struggling in the National League

Getting ahead of ourselves.... great to see optimism on here!

I think the ground is ok as is for League One..... Burton Albion is three terraces and they've played in the championship at the Pirelli Stadium... although I think once you get to that level you have so many years to convert the ground to an all seater. No need to worry about that......yet!

The affordability question comes around every time we look like contenders (i.e. rarely) and is perverse - this is a sporting competition, you can't pick and choose when you get promoted based on perceived inability to compete off the pitch (Little Old Morecambe!) - its based solely on performances on the pitch..... unless you are called Bury or Macclesfield!

Do we not have an option on Carlos? Seem to recall the club negotiated his deal and gave him an improved contract at the start of this season - when we could've extended the existing deal for cheaper, but the improved contract was a reflection of his personal development and importance to the team? Hopefully we do..... surely he is catching the eye of other clubs..... 7 league goals already!
Hello! Hello! We are the Morecambe boys!

Every single one of them for me. Apart from Pringle and maybe a couple of others who haven’t really featured at all.
