Another superb win when I only really expected a point. We were the dominant side on their own patch in front of their crowd, and that speaks volumes. Only negative today was Phillips going off, hope it's precautionary rather than serious. We're in a great position going into Boxing Day!

What a win! What a performance. That 15 minute spell after half time is as good as i've seen Morecambe play. We carved them open chance after chance. If we'd won that game 6-2, Colchester couldn't have had complaints.

There's so much to love about this team. Sure, Cole should have got 2 or even 3 goals but he was my MOTM today. He ran them ragged, held the ball up, twisted their defenders every which way and was just missing that goal. Carlos had a very mature performance, covered his ground well and was all over the pitch defending and attacking.

I've gotta give credit where credit is due. I've been critical of Hendrie with respect to his defending, but he was faultless today. Now, Gibson and Mellor (when fit) have to work their way back into the side. By Derek having no 'automatic starters' everyone is busting a gut to get game minutes. Even to get a sub appearance is proving difficult! Halstead pulled off a couple of saves and the defence were organised and well drilled throughout. Touma has had to be patient to get any game time and he came in today for the injured Phillips and put in a really solid performance. He even nearly got a goal with his header against the bar from yet another great bit of play. Seems a shame not to call out others - Sullivan, Wildig and Phillips were all excellent and Songo'o deserves his goal for his work rate over recent weeks. As Derek Quinn mentioned in the commentry, Derek Adams called over CMG to come short to drag away the defenders from the box to allow space for us to attack. Brilliant.

Couldn't be happier. Come on you shrimps!!

Brilliant result. What a way to lift the Covid depressions! We are beating some of the best teams in League 2 and even when we don't win we are putting in really good performances. 2 lower position games coming up and in other years these were the games we were struggling to win but this year.....? Could we be in an automatic promotion spot by the turn of the year? We could!!!! :D :D :D

Fantastic. Very very happy. The thing is we are getting better and better. The side feels settled and we are showing far more adventure. Hope Phillipps is ok.

Wow.... what a performance..yet again.. :!: :!: :!:

I predicted a hard fought point but hoped for all 3 and boy did our lads deliver. :D :D :D

Great position in the league going into Christmas just a shame that the PM has cancelled Christmas and only Christmas Day will see families getting together and NOT the previous 5 day expectation.

The sooner we can get back to the Stadium to get behind our lads the better...but the chances of a quick return are diminishing every day / week/ month.

12 months ago, I felt that Wildig, O'Sullivan & Tutte were a large part of our problems. After Tutte's petulance when subbed (for being crap!) I was delighted to see the back of him and I wouldn't have been upset to see Aaron & John going too.

This season... what a difference! Wildig would have been my MotM today (although, I would struggle to argue against anyone else getting it after a great team performance). I'd even go so far as to say, if the season ended now, he'd possibly be my vote for Player of the Season. Him & Phillips appear to be developing a real understanding.

No player can rest on their heels at the moment, but if everyone is fit, then I wouldn't make any changes to this side at the moment, which is great. :D

Little Shrimp wrote:Brilliant yet again, only a shame not to win by more as we missed a few chances! Stockton needs to start tucking away his chances but his overall play is so so good he's undroppable, and overall he raises the level of our game. Despite his missed chances, his all round game was excellent again.

These last few games we've really clicked and are looking more defensively solid, and more dominant throughout matches rather than just in spells. Hard to pick a player that stood out as all were excellent again.

My shoutout today will go to Toums, who made a massive claim to get back into the side when he came on. It was a worry seeing Phillips go off, but everything in that particularly excellent 15 minute spell after half time went through Toums, and great to see him get the assist for Songo'o's goal in a great corner routine!

5th at Christmas, absolutely amazing! What a job Derek Adams is doing :D

ditto to all that :D

Fantastic performance by the Shrimps - just need to be a bit more clinical when chances arise. Cole missed a hatful, but his general play was great. I'm sure he will find his scoring boots soon. But would have liked Derek to have brought AJ on sometime in the second half, even if only for the last 10 or 15 minutes.

Overall Derek has worked wonders for the team - long may it continue. Happy days (apart from Covid).

Great team performance. Would have been happy with a point before the game, but we could and should have won by far more.

Was a little concerned when Phillips was forced off, but Toums was superb in the second half. Hopefully nothing serious with Phillips.

The great thing is that we have a strong squad of players, with players having to maintain performance levels to keep their places in the side. As others have said Wildig, O'Sullivan and Kenyon have really stepped up this season.

Exciting times.

Interesting that last weekend Chelsea were 10/1 to win the FA Cup.
Tonight they are 1000/1.

Obviously I'm only joking, but doesn't it make you feel great to be an MFC supporter the way that things are going at the moment.

I live out in Cyprus and my brother is in Hereford (used to teach Aaron Wildig), and the success of this season so far has truly brought us closer together - much needed in these Covid-times.

Keep it going boys - and what a superb appointment D.A. was.
The wine and the football seem better in the sunshine!!

Bloomin marvellous, we should have been light years ahead and we were still twitching at the end, great stuff from Halstead.
Fans should be banned all season  and Bradford need to keep their hands off Derek, he's 3/1 :o

Also from their forum:

- "Will someone please ask RC how relying on youth is helping the club, Morecambe, a rather depressed northern town is stacked full of 28 and 29 year olds and there is no substitute for experience."

- "Lets give Morcambe and their manager a lot of credit. They have been perennial strugglers in this division but a new manager went in and laid out his intention to take them forward and to have aspirations of improving. Well, they've done just that and you couldn't begrudge them a 1-4 or 1-5 win today. How refreshing to see a visiting team have the confidence to play their game."

Glad you’re being civil after a quality win WITH Hendrie (who did very well I may add) in the side

Anyway, what a brilliant win... AGAIN! I’m perhaps guilty of posting more on here when the going isn’t so good as opposed to when we pick up wins - sadly that’s just human nature! But what a brilliant season we’re having - R3 of Carabao, R3 of FA Cup, 5th in December with 3 very winnable games coming up (on paper at least!) and Chelsea away to look forward to! Rumours going round that Bradford are interested in Derek (3/1 odds on Sky)... so Bradford can shove that one!!

I’m just finding it so uplifting to see OUR team, our Morecambe, battling hard and deservingly reaching the play-offs coming up to the halfway point of the season. Colchester were out-thought, out-fought, tactically out-classed, physically out-classed, and thoroughly defeated by Derek’s men. And this is a side that only needed one real sub, and that was for an injured Philips. A side without Pringle, Slew or Mellor in the squad, and with incredible talent & depth on the bench. And a side that is being heavily praised by opposition managers, fans and pundits alike (and not just for going against the odds and keeping our head just above water!). What a time to be a Shrimp!

Merry Christmas all! And I hope it will be a Happy “Play-off” New Year! COYS
