To sub or not to sub

To sub or not to sub

Didn't read many comments about when DA did a double substitution at H/T last weekend but now plenty when he doesn't.

DA for me has more confidence in the players fitness than some on here and don't forget that he has data throughout the game on how players are fitness wise...so for me I trust in the judgement of our manager and his fitness coach and physio to let him get on with it.

Derek is doing fine, a lot of the noise is coming from the Jim Bentley Brigade

maybe Derek should start complaining about the budget or the training ground, etc etc.

I am certainly not one of the Jim Bentley brigade and I readily acknowledge the improvement in the side under DA. I like his style and the complete absence of any excuses. I do think on a couple of occasions he has missed a trick by not introducing a substitute and bringing on 2 substitutes in 90th minute yesterday didn't make sense when the game was lost. Sometimes bringing a sub on refreshes the side and offers a different challenge for the opposition. I thought at Salford chasing the game we needed to freshen things up and bring a bit of different play when we were knocking at the door but not achieving an equaliser. Yesterday it would have made more sense bringing the 2 subs on straight after the penalty giving them a little time to influence the game. Football is a game of opinions and I don't expect some people to agree with me but I am certainly entitled to share my opinions- we are all frustrated managers! I hope Derek continues to develop our team, we certainly look at least mid-table and with a run of results could get into the play off places.

"To sub or not to sub"

That is the question, I sense Derek has something up his sleeve, unless he is just trying to baffle us on purpose
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Baffling enough to leave Hendrie on with a yellow card until he collected a second one  when a bench of very good subs sat twiddling their thumbs on the bench . Great tactics !!!

In a nutshell f. Forums are about different opinions, otherwise what’s the point.

You either can´t read or you are talking nonsense (again), Neil.

Some of the comments from the matchday thread against Solihull:

Sandgrown - "great subs by DA at halftime, it changed the game completely, great team goal for the first and second."

Crazynick - ¨I am finding that Derek is much better than Jim (much as I love the guy) at game management.¨

Vinny - ¨Glad Derek made subs early today¨

...but don´t let the facts get in the way of a good story.

I´d hope fans, on the whole, are absolutely delighted with the progress made this year (I am!). That being said, I questioned why we didn´t make subs on Saturday (I never understand why subs only get a few minutes to impact a game. It´s generally fruitless) and I hope I am also balanced in my praise when we´ve made proactive subs.
