Sticks and stones Keith

Just sit back and Enjoy the game Keith knowing that those boys are well under 82 years of age.

Okay... so you are an idiot. Registered Nurse who was in my group when we trained caught COVID-19 while at work back in April. She's still off sick. She posted on Facebook a couple of weeks ago that she'd managed to shower, dress and prepare her own breakfast for the first time in months. It took her two hours and she was exhausted, but a step forward. She isn't in the 'over 82's age group that you are happy to sacrifice.

Keep dreaming for that to happen, his hard man act ends at his keyboard.

Back to the match though, this BBC commentator and their goalie need to get a room.

All three subs were used after 70 minutes. If they manage an equaliser, is there another sub allowed during extra time? They changed the rules last season after the COVID-19 forced break, don't know if they were changed back?

Not a great performance, but a professional one. We did what was needed on the day. Lots of players will think they should have scored today.

We're into the hat and that's what matters.

Well, we made heavy weather of it, although their keeper played well, he wasn't rally tested. They didn't look like they were four leagues below us. Still, job done, on to second round.

Not the best performance from the bits I saw but delighted with the win after recent years.

When´s the draw?

Think we played well enough generally, although let them back in towards the latter stages of the match which was a bit disappointing.

Overall though, think we were definitely the better side and deserved to win. Should really have scored one or two more but we didn't seem to be feeling very clinical today. Bit of a contrast to the rest of our season, when we've generally outscored our xG. That said, Maldon acquitted themselves well defensively considering their position.

MOTM for me today was Songo'o. Particularly in the first half, I thought they tried to turn the game into more of a physical battle, and in these moments I thought Songo'o protected our defence excellently. Him, Lavelle and NKP were superb in the air against their No9. Showed heading is a lot about timing and technique, not just being tall.

In regards to the coverage, I was watching on BBC Red Button and thought they did great with the cameras. A real treat for us and their fans with some great angles. Shame about the commentator though who was ponderous, mixed up players and managed to call Sam Lavelle, Ben! I thought that would be the one advantage that a BBC commentator might have over our iFollow two

Phew....I can now rest easy.

Not a classic by any means but we won and that's all that matters.

Their goalkeeper kept them in with a shout but our lads did a professional job without being convincing.

Though Meller and Carlos played well.

DA did his work and got our lads in the right frame of mind.

Roll on Round 2 just as importantly the cash for the win will be most welcome. Not sure how much.... :?: :?:

A good performance against a non league side who implemented the dark arts. Long grass made it hard to pass the ball and like little shrimp rightly says, they tried to rough us up. It might have worked against us in the past but we are a physical unit now and I thought we mixed it up well with them.

We are in the hat for the next round with a few bob in our pockets. Happy days, the improvement under Derek Continues.

Agree about the dark arts, nudges some dead dodgy tackles and kicks after the ball.thought we showed a lot of skill with some delightful moves.have not seen them for a while and was pleasantly surprised

A job well done, in the bag for the next round, but not exactly convincing for me. A typical sort of game, for round 1, against a decent non league side. Next!!!!

Probably the easiest 1 nil win you will get

There keeper should have been sent off and should have been 4 or 5

Scoreline flattered them, poor finishing by us, and heroics by their keeper kept it respectable.

They've changed the rules, or at least, the interpretation of them. If a genuine attempt is made in the penalty area, then it is just a yellow now. I *think* it would still be a red if outside the area.

I think their keeper "genuinely" went for and got Mendes's legs! The ball was a couple of feet out of his reach.

Phew we made hard work of that , some good build up play at times but the final ball always seems to either get stuck under a players foot or goes behind them its not often put on a plate . Having said that both Slew and Stockton had chances on a plate and both of them fluffed their chances . Little Jack would have scored about 4 yesterday especially if i had backed him to score 3 .
