Weird mid-week kick-off times?

Weird mid-week kick-off times?

Postby Keith » Tue Oct 13, 2020 7:16 pm

Am I the only one who has only just found out that mid-week games aren't kicking off at traditional times?

Oh, I am... okay. :? :? :?

Morecambe v Mansfield
&
Morecambe v Exeter

...both kick off at 6:30pm

But Bolton Wanderers v Morecambe kicks off at 8pm.

Obviously, everyone else knew this, so IO'm posting to remind myself! :D :D :D

So how did that work out then?

I think they kick-off at 7-45 usually to allow fans to travel after work whether home fans or away fans if it is fairly local.

No need for this with no fans so the early kick-offs let them get home to Mansfield etc an hour or so earlier than they would otherwise.

I think you are right, and it makes sense. I just think some consistency would be useful. The earlier kick offs would also allow families with younger children to watch a game together on iFollow even on a school night. But an 8pm kick off at Bolton, I don't see any logical reason for?

It's a damned menace for me as I'm dining out with the wife at 5pm for her Birthday, I'll have to skip the sweet talk and most probably dessert in order I'm seated in time for the game and that'll go down like a bomb

It's about the players not having to stay overnight, nothing to do with fans

Most of our players will be nearer home when we play Bolton
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Not a fan of these early kick offs but at least Charlie Appleyard reminded us on FB.
