Thanks Baz for the memories but plenty more I'm sure in the seasons to follow.

A superb interview with such a humble person.... :)

I do wonder if the coaching role hadn't have come up would Derek have treated Baz the same as Kevin?

Did he have an issue with them going back in the dressing room after their role as managers, it seemed a shame as they were both capable of still doing a job last season and had no ambitions for management yet.

It’s a pleasure to listen to Baz - I could listen to him for hours on end. He’s always come across as very down-to-earth, unassuming and an overall brilliant chap. I for one am absolutely delighted that he’s still at the club and I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up in an honorary role at the club in the distant future (of course it’s whether he would want that level of position).

No , I don't think Baz would have been treated the same as Kevin.

I suspect Kevin might have been outspoken about not playing.

Also maybe he didn't like Kevs character.

It’s definitely all down to Kev’s character and ego. As soon as Derek got the measure of him, Kev was soon ousted out of the matchday squads and the fact Kev couldn’t train on astro just compounded the issue. As much as I loved having Kev at the club, his race was well and truly run even before Derek joined and his arrogance with his social media posts and in his interview with radio lancs proved Derek right in my eyes.

As I said in a previous post in this thread, it’s a pleasure to listen to Baz because of his humble and calm demeanour and I can easily see why Baz has been treated differently.

There’s nothing wrong with having a good dose of self-confidence but Kev obviously overstepped the mark with Derek, who probably also realised that he’d rather start Carlos than Kev anyway
