Cheers for that Al

Only interested in Derek now and how much I want him to achieve the goal of keeping this club in the Football league,
If he does that, he'll become an instant hero but if he doesn't, how does that play out?

Just saying ;)

The new managers 2 wins in 12 is slightly better than the old managers record, both of these records are frankly crap, neither manager played with 2 up front.

Last 11 games under DA is W2- D3 -L6 as F posted.

The last 16 games of 18/19....W7-D4-L5. Hopefully we hit something like that form this year, we need to.

Above is the league table when Jim left, we were bottom and 2 points away from safety.

https://www.twtd.co.uk/league-tables/co ... -and-away/

Above is the league table since Jim left, we are 18th, 4 points from the bottom.

https://www.twtd.co.uk/league-tables/co ... -and-away/

Above is the league table since Derek took charge, we are 21st, one point above the drop zone.

So we have improved since Jim left but the win that Kev and Barry got improves our predicament somewhat as opposed to direct improvements that Derek has made.

The biggest turn around is the home form. W0 D3 L5 under Jim, W3 D3 L1 after Jim.

Thanks for that Shrimpy,

Am I seeing this correctly or what? :?

So, beforehand, the away form was far better than the home form and this upset the natives.

Now, the home form is far better than the away form, but the natives are extremely happy, myself included, because most aren't seeing anything beyond the Globe.

So in actual fact, absolutely nothing has changed and barring the good work Kev and Baz put in to
get those 3 crucial points against Orient, it would be...........exactly the same as???? :o

Well, I'm truly gobsmacked  All the new loan players from better club's, the wonderful high standard of football I've been seeing, I wouldn't have believed it.

Thanks again for highlighting, what I've failed to see

Maybe Kev could be a floating assistant manager with Fylde & Morecambe splitting the wages, as he is clearly the best of the 3 and the other 2 have long term contracts :D :D

Well not quite.

Jim got 10 points in 16 games. Derek has got 10 points in 12 games.

At the rate Jim was getting points we'd have finished on 29, which would have seen us finish well bottom in each of the last 10 seasons.

Derek is doing slightly better, if we continue picking up points at the exact same rate we have since he took charge then over the course of a full season we would finish on 38. Whilst it is an improvement it still isn't good enough to guarantee we stay up. Points totals of the team finishing bottom over the past 10 years is as follows:

48
45
41
40
39
38
37
36
34
30

The issue as well is that Derek isn't starting from a clean slate, he's having to make up ground from Jim's poor start. Currently we have 23 points and there are 17 games left to play. Derek is picking up points at a rate of 0.833 per match which would see us get another 14 points by the end of the season for a grand total of 37 points.

So if we carry on as we are without any improvement then we're looking at about a 30/40% chance of not finishing bottom.

Thanks for posting S, interesting stuff from a stats point of veiw, and a few us able to contribute sensibly.
Obviously figures can only state the facts, which is important. The things that can’t be factored, is how we would have continued under the previous manager? Not based on like for like team wise, which would also have changed with new signings under our previous manager?
What can’t be questioned is the improvement in the football performance on the pitch, apart from Sat of course. The yang to that unfortunately, is that, only points will keep us up.

I think we can all agree that overall, notwithstanding the odd terrible result, the standard of the football has improved somewhat under Derek. Overall midfield is certainly looking better - which was a weakness before. Carlos Mendes-Gomez has been great and can only get better.

Generally speaking, defence is not too bad. I am hopeful that the new keeper may be an overall improvement on Mark. We need to do better in the final third and I hope we can still bring in a semi-decent striker (at this level). Stockton is a decent target man, but needs to convert more chances. I like Leitch-Smith and would like to see him start more often. The last couple of games he has made an immediate impact after coming on as a sub.

I remain hopeful that the overall improvment under Derek will continue and that we will hopefully start to score a few more goals and get enough points to finish above Stevenage, and maybe Macc too if they get more points deducted.

Keep the faith - COYS

Fine lines, chances missed, individual errors and officials decisions will be the factors.

Hope we have the bottle for the 21st March cos the way it's going the winner of that will hold the key to safety
