Contractual talks

Contractual talks

Postby Christies Child » Thu Apr 02, 2009 6:03 pm

Sammy confirmed on Radio Lancashire's Sports Show that he's agreed 12 month extensions to their existing contracts with 'Iron Man' Adams, Dave Artell and Fraser.

Talks with other out of contract players are in progress but he didn't say that they applied to all 8 out of contract palyers.

Drummy signed a contract to Summer 2010.

I think the following are also signed up to Summer 2010 , Twissy , Stanners , Barry Roche , Neil Wainwright. Jim Bentley signed a contract to Summer 2011 if I remember correctly.

I take this as good news. I think all the players mentioned are at least good enough for one more season. If we are willing and able to bring in three or four quality newcomers then one or two of these will be excellent cover.

I like the idea of "one-year" extensions at this stage as we see just how far and how quickly we want to (or 'can) develop as a club.

If we can get the players to agree (and in the current climate I reckon the club is in a strong position in this regard) then one-year is about all I'd want to commit ourselves to.

We will still have to ship a few out to make way, though.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

I'd happily see Barry sign a three year contract!

So how did that work out then?

I think as far as the defence go we are in pretty good shape, its the midfield and forward areas that we need to look at, a bit more creativity and more of a cutting edge wouldn't go amiss.

Waynaldo has still to sort out a contract too. Ironic in his testimonial season.
