Painfully poor first half, their goalkeeper has never looked threatened. It's not bad luck or coincidence that our opponents constantly win the second ball and we constantly don't. Every one of their headers goes to their own player and they bring it down and start an attack. At best, our clearances cause a bit of head tennis that we bring down, but usually it goes to one of them for them to start another attack.

We've got to get better at winning the second ball, quickly bringing it down and starting attacks. Our defenders headers should be aimed at a man, not desperate clearances. Buxton seems to be the only defender calm enough to bring it down and pick out a pass, otherwise it's lobbed into the middle where we're perennially outnumbered regardless of formation.

I don't agree. Kev's out on the left, drifting in occasionally. We've tried to play it on the deck most of the time.

Our plan A B and C is the long diagonal from left to right. Did i read we have had chances?

Very poor first half against another side that are in poor form. We're too easy to play against.

We don't win the second ball and the defence don't offer Barry any support. Four times in two games, keeper saves but the defence are no where to be seen for the rebound.

Walsall look like the home side at the moment.

Sorry Lancaster Shrimp Jims job is safe

No money

Bobbly pitch

Floodlights not bright enough

Walsall were league 1 last season with loads of experience

Lowest budget

Smallest crowds

They're working a lot harder off the ball closing down and winning the ball back, just hoping they run out of steam.

They've got Buxton sussed and exploiting his lack of recovery pace when he losses the ball in forward positions.

Lucky to be just 0-1

Why? What do you disagree with?

Perhaps it is my interpretation of "long ball". I don't think a panicked hoof or header from defence to some random area of midfield is a 'long ball tactic'. And Kev is on the left. Or is there something else you disagree with? The Wildig foul he jumped in to the player, turning his back on him. Their player got the ball but couldn't avoid Wildig's jump. Likewise Tutte (?) doing similar in the second contentious foul, he jumped in and at their player. O'Sullivan was fouled in the same way but that wasn't given, which it should.

Should have been 0-2. Tanner gave the ball away cheaply and they broke with pace. Fortunately hit high & wide.

Good save from Barry... They could have scored twice in first five minutes of second half! They are growing in confidence (surprisingly!)

Our first half chance from a corner but the knockdown kind of got buried under feet and dribbled through to their keeper who was happy to finally grab the ball. A bit better now.

Buxton's touch and vision is superb, but he's limited to the diagonal pass from right-back really. Would he be more effective at centre-mid? Maybe he'd be stifled quicker, or bypassed, but I feel like we need to get him more involved as a playmaker.

Got to be worth a try. Neither O'Sullivan or Tutte have played any creative passes, instead going sideways or back.

Alessandra got a kick in the penalty area but didn't go down so not given. I'd take Miller off rather than Alessandra because out of the two, Lewis looks more likely to threaten.

75 minutes without their goalkeeper making a single save, we're simply dreadful at creating chances

I'd have Oates on the right wing as much as possible to allow the diagonals from Buxton, he's wasted on that wing.
