Well, the lowest fruit bearing branch could be 2' off the ground which means easy picking however picking a pear off an apple tree ain't going to be easy.

Well, if he managed to get the pear into the apple tree in the first place he should just reach up. 'cos pears don't grow int' apple trees.

Pants, try harder.

I would'nt think any size of ladder would enable you to get a pear from an apple tree - would it ?

Talking of trees ..

If a tree falls in a forest with no one to hear it, does it make a sound?

It depends if it's already dead or not.

Chuck one away.

If a man states an opinion in a forest and there's no woman around to hear him - is he still wrong?
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

There are 5 frogs sitting on a log.
3 decide to jump off. How many are left on the log?

Five. They only decided to jump but didn't actually jump.

Indecisive bastards. If it was Lemmings, there wouldn't have been a problem.

Indecisive bastards.

Not necessarily. The author does not go on to say they changed their minds and didn't jump so one has to make the assumption that at some point in time they did, actually, jump off the log. That would leave 2 frogs free to debate the merits of getting themselves involved in a trick question.

They only decided to jump off. This could have been a jump-off competition between the three frogs and on the log because they were extremely bored and their view of the beautiful pond was obscured by the beaver's new huge dam.

At which point the two remaining frogs would probably be so utterly bemused by the sheer pointlessness of said debate that they would resolve to jump off said log thus rendering the entire escapade a complete waste of the taxpayers money........said the Daily Mail.

In that case they should jump off the log onto the top of the new dam where they would experience an entirely new view of the beautiful pond which would have been enlarged by the building of the dam. Unfortunately one or two Mice, Beetle and other Insects may drown in the aftermath of the dam building.

Hang on.
Where has the Beavers new damn been constructed? Surely the frogs views had been ruined? Did said beaver have planning applications? What is this beaver thinking of? Or did he agree to move to this pool if he could build a damn?
Anyway, that's by the by.
If the frogs jumped from the log onto the new damn at the exit of the flowing pond, the damn cant be that high, therefore the view wouldn't be that different? If the damn has been built at the entrance to the pond then the water level in the pond would surely have dropped? That's a whole new view!
Either way, surely the damn is for the better of the pond in the long run and for future generations of frogs? (and their competitions)

the damn cant be that high

Yet more disinfo. You are basing your height assumption on the fact that the damn is accessible in one leap. It hasn't even been established that the log is in water.

Either way, the damn provides accomodation for the Beaver family that have just moved into the area proving that even out-of-ponders should have a say in the pond's development.
