Welcome to the board, and a great first post to get people talking although the defence and attack are transversed!

It's interesting that you only include 3 "Old timers" in the first 11 but that said, the other "Legends" of Morecambe never played League football for the club, so in that aspect you might be right. I think Hardiker in his prime might have got a spot somewhere.

Whenever things like this come up, there's always a tendancy for people to not look far enough back, but like I said, the more recent players in the League have to be better by virtue of the level of competition we're now in so I think that selection is justified. I'm not sure I'd have too many changes to the first 11 anyway.

It's interesting isn't it? I looked at that team and thought, not bad. Then thought about some of the players that aren't even on the bench. For example, you'd have Mawson ahead of Roche? No room for Baker, Twiss, Norman, McKearney? Over the years, we've had some excellent players... just a shame they weren't all here at the same time!

Yeh, i was debating between Twiss and Jacko, but his goal scoring record speaks for itself.

Norman was a good player but i can't find room for him.

Macca, top servant but was never the quickest.

Roche is a good keeper but i was a big fan of Mawson's personally.

shame football's not a 100 a-side game really!!

Okay, having 'criticised' BLS Boy's selection, I'll set one up to be shot down.

I'd probably have to tinker with the bench so there was some defensive cover. And I'd probably want Keith Galley in there just because he must be due to re-sign for us again sometime soon. Alan Taylor would have been an international if he'd had John Norman feeding him. Steve Done on the left wing because he was my first 'favourite' player. Geoff Street may be the one to come on to the bench for that defensive cover.

Good shout that one Keith.

My only changes would be Roche (CC's checked the spelling  )for Lewis; Adams for Perkins; Colin Alty for Drummond and Mr T for Norman.

Bench: Millard; Street; Lea; Coleman; Drummond

Now the WORST 11 would be: :?: :?: :?: :?:

I think Norman was key to Jacko's success. Norman & Charlton would have been a success more than Jackson & Charlton because they were too similar.

That worst eleven is probably worthy of you starting a new thread CC... you go first!

In that case I've swapped Coleman & Jackson around. The latter can be an impact sub ;)

Nah, Johnny Norman and Bobby Charlton were far too similar.

No Mark Shirley anyone?

How's about Marck Ceraolo? His nickname was Sparky, wasn't it?

Too right.....my problem is remembering them all.

So far i've Powell and Kelleher as 'keepers, Walmsley in defence (?) and a certain John Preston up front.
