  I thought a match against Google would have pulled in more than 192. Can't expect your phone to recognise a tiny Yorkshire town

Given his contribution to getting us to the football league can be seen as admirable, he continued to then with the Sainsburys money, create the biggest divide in our club.

He built a stadium which was never in the interests of the normal fans and totally lost his way with thinking on how the stadium would be best built. looking back if he had respect for the normal fans he would have consulted them and built a better stadium which would have generated more money IMO.

building a stadium with a stand so high when you leave the opposite side with no roof and better still have no money left out of the pot to build the Comunity block and pitches was the biggest mistake.

How much has this had an effect on the team past few seasons.

We need a new board being led by Rod, he is Mr Morecambe and someone who will listein to the fans, on top of this we need someone with vision on how to generate more income to make the club self suffient, listein to the fans, bring in new buisness starting with sponsorship.

I believe that PMG has ignored and lost respect with the everyday fan depsite them being the heart and sole of the club, iritated by the critics of his failed attempts of trying to make our club something it will never be instead of ensuring the club remained the heart of the town.

End of an era start of another? Will always remember PMG as the man who fired us into the football league, rightly or wrongly delivered the promise of a new ground too! Best day as a Morecambe fan was the wembley win. What the future holds now who knows? We would still be non-league but for him, wonder why he decided to leave now? He might have done a deal for money he was after,or decided he was never going to get any? He seems confident the club is now in good hands though. What now for our current manager as he has lost his biggest fan? Thanks for the memories PMG and good luck in your future

Let us all raise our eyes to Heaven and remember the good words of Chairman Peter from Corpus Christie Park, Chapter Seven, Verse Three:

“Had we stayed at Christie Park I wouldn’t have been at the club anymore. I would have gone because there was no future in my opinion. If someone comes and offers you twenty million pounds for this, would you take it? Of course you would!”

And so it came to pass that he did.

And it also came to pass that now he’s gone anyway.

So, Dearly Beloved, what have we learnt here today?

We have learnt that the words of the old song are indeed prophetic:

“Take the money and run...”

Well I didn't have the money they wanted then and I don't have it now, so if it was down to money then no chance.

If it was offered, which it won't, I wouldn't take it anyway. In my view there should be fan representation on the board, with two people from the Trust's committee appointed to give true representation to the fans and the community that keep the club alive and knows what it's like to be a paying customer. The usual answer from PMG was, "we don't need it, I'm a fan", and from another director, "I live in this community". I didn't buy that then and I don't buy it now. Any Trust appointed board members wouldn't be able to outvote anyone or carry decisions but at least they'd be able to make a clear fan's case which could only benefit decision-making.

His quotes are epic and should be turned into the Bible of Football Truth.

Asked if he looked in the mirror about what he has done [sold the club to Diego Lemos], McGuigan responded: "Yes, probably about 30 times a day. When it comes out as to what happened, nobody could've done it any differently - let me reassure you of that."

When putting the club up for sale in 2016 shortly after having had its second of three PFA bailouts, "I feel the time is right for a new owner to take the club forward and build on a strong platform that exists today."

"We'll be selling more scarves in Shanghai than Morecambe soon." https://www.thevisitor.co.uk/news/morec ... -1-6848340.

Awww leave him alone, he said what he thought was correct at the time and altered his position accordingly, when circumstances (beyond his control) changed , he found us as a small club with nothing apart from our home, and, rather like those kind firms that take your tatty old house off you and put you in an upgraded rented pad (terms and conditions apply) soldiered on as best he could till he had used up all our equity, I'm sure the new people will look after us.

Not a problem as far as I'm concerned. Remember where we were when Rod invited him onto the board.

Well deserved and anybody who thinks differently take a look in the mirror and ask yourself are YOU perfect all of the time.

We ALL make mistakes and wish we could go back and correct a wrong but we have to move on.

Without PMcG we would not have probably been where we are now.

EFL1..and looking forward to another season full of optimism and hope.

The last few days have shown us all that nobody is perfect. We just have to live with our short comings and make the most of what we are given.

Congratulations to both PMcG and Les Taylor who also deserves this recognition for his work on creating finances for our club over many years in the Commercial Dept. and well done to our BoD.

PMG is in a similar bracket to Sammy Mac in that it was right that he left his role when he did but his overall contribution to the club has been tremendous.

If PMG is good enough for Rod Taylor then he should be good enough for all of us. Don't forget he had an opportunity to go to the Giant Axe but chose us over them. If he hadn't then they could be in EFL 1 and we could be in oblivion or worse no longer in existence.

As for Les Taylor. He did a lot for the club back in the day and deserves the recognition too.

A nice touch to recognise the overall contribution PMG has made to the progression of the club in an honorary role. Thankfully he has no further shares left in MFC to donate to conmen.... once bitten, twice shy.

I have to agree with this. Bar Derek, Sammy was our most successful manager and deserves huge respect for getting us in the league as well as the L2 playoffs and some great league cup matches too.

PMG helped the club into the league also and although he made some mistakes towards the end, its debatable where we'd be now without his drive in the conference days to get promotion.

Problem is, neither were particularly good socially around the club so will never be held in the same esteem as Rod or even Jimbo.

PMG deserves to be recognised for his contribution to the Football Club. God knows where we would be without his backing for so many years. Can you imagine what life would be like if he had taken charge of that mob over the Lune?

Doesn't bare thinking about!

Peter came in and brought a professionalism to the club. The association with UMBRO was huge. I may not have the details correct, but Justin Jackson returned to us in part, due to getting a 'boot deal' with UMBRO, otherwise, we couldn't afford him. I remember when we had an UMBRO kit deal, where our tops were made out of a new material that drew sweat away from the body ('Vapourtech' or something similar sounding?) That season, England, Manchester United & Morecambe were the only teams to play in it!

The end to his tenure was 'challenging' to say the least, but the huge strides forwards that the club made during his time must be recognised & remembered.
“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband: ".

So how did that work out then?
