hi folks my name is Leigh and i am from Scotland, recently some friends and i decided to expand oursleves outside of our tiny country and follow a league two side, we decided we wanted to support different teams so we could go to games together and experience the banter of sitting in opposite ends of the stadium cheering on opposing sides.

after some deliberation i decided that Morecambe was to be my team, i have purchased a strip, a scarf, became a member of this forum and studied the fixtures to pick out my first visit to the stadium.

i realise this may seem strange to some lifelong supporters but my aim is to prove that i am now a shrimper for life and this is not an overnight fad

My friends chose Darlington and Chester City. Hope to speak to some of you soon and expand my knowledge on this fantastic team.

Leigh

Leigh, welcome to MFC. Your friends have made strange decisions, gone bust and about to go bust clubs :o You've picked probably one of the most financially stable clubs in any league at the moment.

Whereabouts in Scotland are you from? I'm trying to get up to see a Cowdenbeath game soon but the one just the other side of the border conflicts with a visit to the sponsors lounge at Morecambe

haha yeh strange decisions indeed, i studied the league and the team and i rate Michael Twiss really highly and Matthew Blinkhorn,

My mate Ross chose Chester due to the geography and Gav chose Darlington as he likes the stadium :)

I am from Livingston which is just outside of Edinburgh.
Cowdenbeath are doing very well at the moment, top of the Scottish 3rd Division

Thank you for your warm welcome :)

Captain Jimbo (James Bentley)steers the ship, supported by crew members MrT (Michael Twiss) and England's No1 (Barry Roach).

All 3 are crowd favourites along with The Iron Man (Danny Adams).

Shrimps fan would be a better choice of words, as you don't want getting mixed up with that Southend lot.
Anyway Leigh, welcome aboard and hope you enjoy the ride.
Last year a group of us went to Huntley and watched them play in the Highland League as we both play at Christie parks
Good weekend out even if we did miss us beating Rotherham 5-0
If your friend has decided to support Chester, you might want to start calling them Darth Vader from now on as they have definately gone over to the Dark Side!!!!

Don't listen to Curley, he's a twat! :D  Until he tells Shrimper he's wrong "Shrimper" is fine in the context you used. Just don't call Morecambe "the Shrimpers" then you wil bring the wrath of god down upon you!

Welcome!

Oh and Blinks is out for the rest of the season. He's struggled to be honest, injuries and an inability to score has made this a season for him to forget.

Welcome Leigh. You're clearly the intelligent one amongst your group of friends.

The crowd favourites is an odd one as we do genuinely have several. A lot of players came up from the Conference days so are treated like minor Gods for winning at Wembley and others like Barry Roache, Dave Artell and others have charmed their way into the affections of everyone. With this good run we're on it's getting like a love in.

Anyway you're very welcome and look forward to seeing you at Christie Park.

Strange init ! At the start of this season whilst "Cabbaged"(or very nearly) in the Sausage,
several Plastics and my self decided we should look out for a team north of the Border.
After a bit of debate on who we should hold a candle to,we asked the Landlady. Being from "Totherside" of Rome's attempt at segregation she said we should become "Sons of the Rock".
We all said "Och of course, why did we not think of that"  :? :? Well we found out the name of our new team, and ironically the group fitted perfectly. One chap worked at the Garden Center nr Preston and the others........you work it out. :D Welcomen to SV S.S.
You will find it's a great place to visit.

Just off back for my next shift. (Back around 01.00)

Yeah ...welcome aboard. Who's your team in Scotland then Leigh ? I have a 'liking' for the 'Doonhammers' and had a run up to Dumfries a few Saturdays ago to watch QOS Vs St Johnstone [3-3]. It was a great day out and I intend to return again sometime soon to watch them play away somewhere.
By the way Gary Hunter is one of my favourite players - small , tenacious and give's is all - he's just coming into a nice bit of form - when are you planning to visit us ? The Bradford home match on Good Friday might be a good introduction !

Welcome aboard mate!

You have chosen the right team, that's for sure :D

You need to plan a trip down to come and meet us. I am sure many of us could use that as an excuse for a night out. The York is a good place to stay and I am sure Sgt Major will give you a good discount and a cracking breakfast!

Stick with us. You could be our lucky mascott. go to www.morecambefc.com and sign up for Morecambeworld. There is a 30 days free trial and you will get live commentry home and away.

If you are feeling adventurous we have a spare seat left on our Magicbus to Shrewsbury on March 21st. ;)
