Flemmo is hardworking but has to go around 3 imaginary roundabouts before he thinks of passing the ball. If he was a yard faster in his head he would be a top league 2 midfielder.

Can't resist this....

How tall are Kante and Modric? Xavi and Iniesta? I would rather see us sign a 5'6 brick shit house than a 6'4 bean pole.

Andy Grimshaw springs readily to mind.

I am not sure if you could get away with a Grimmy these days. He would miss 15 games a season through suspension. I think you have to be a bit better on the ball nowadays rather than just an enforcer. His work ethic and determination would not go a miss though!

Surely if we play the ball along the floor it doesn't matter what height our midfielders are...

We might play sexy football on the floor, but all the other teams will be hoofing it up in the air to their 6'6" neanderthals

Our tactics revolve around the defence thumping the ball long to our forwards, over the heads of our midfielders. I don’t see why we need our midfielders to be tall.

slighlty surprised we've not got a central defender in by now considering a lot of positive transfer activity or talk of a central defender on trial pre season.

i can only think Jim as a certain player in mind currently in talks with or Jim doesnt think that the central defenders without clubs this summer are good enough.

Center Back's

Lavelle
Old
?

i like Kenyon, think he could make a permanent move there susscefully for the rest if his career, but an injury or suspension here n there, we could be in trouble

Mark Roberts , former Fleetwood and Stevenage centre back played on trial for Barrow on Tuesday in their 5-0 thrashing of Lancaster. Apparently he has an offer from another club.
