One league below us ;)

That's old age for you. Thought Burscough (Blue Sq North) and typed Barrow.

Ned, Robert, whoever (obviously a good friend of the chairman judging by his references) has attempted to judge our team and its prospects for the season on the evidence of one game. He chose this, he didn't choose the game at Barrow. We know from all our experience of watching football how nonsensical that is - even when using 'real' games as your basis.
He's not the only one to have done this and whoever makes such 'assessments' cannot do so with any credibility.

Glen
Perhaps "Negative Ned" aka Robert would accept a spot in your weekly video talk to discuss the season ahead.

How about it Ned.

You seem to be labouring under the delusion that he will still be gracing the Earth by the 9th August though. If someone can, genuinely, be so intensely pessimistic after one game of football then, really, what hope do they have if they wake up one murky morning to find that someone has parked directly over their driveway? Imagine it's Bin Day too; I would envisage such a person would jump head first into the refuse truck so they are spared the remainder of their drab and futile life. Of course, ShrimpsVoices would be in deep mourning....

Perhaps Ned, not for the first time if it's Robert, was trying to impress us with his dressing room contacts.

Roche didn't command his area enough for me in the first half and the first two goals highlighted a severe lack of agility, he seemed far more focused second after no doubts getting the rocket in the dressing room and restored my faith with a string of fine saves, before that I was praying Davies would enter the fold.

Fully agree Oldhamade his saves in the second half were brilliant and it could have been 6 or 7 if it wasn't for him. However I am told that his shot stopping is very good but the problem lies with him not commanding his area especially for the size of the fella.

If he plays like he did in the 2nd half all the time though then we have a good signing it's just a matter of consistancy.

Consistency, confidence and an understanding with his defenders - all of which comes (we hope) with more games for us.

The Barrow manager said on Radio Cumbria after our recent game with them that although it would hurt Barrow fans to hear this but the level of performance shown by Morecambe was what they had to aspire to.

I would suggest that Sammy could have said the same thing about PNE's performance against us being the level that we have to aspire to.

People seem to have forgotten that this was only our second pre-season game when the new lads had played together, whereas PNE had been away to a training camp and that Saturdays game was their 5th pre-season game.

I know that I'd rather we suffered defeats in pre-season than when the action really starts. Too often we've flattered to deceive in pre-season games.

You only have to look at the team that started against Preston and compare it to the one that finished last season, look at how many changes there are, how can any one expect a good team performance.

Pre season is all about getting match fit, trying out new players and combinations of players, it will be a few more games before we see Sammy's starting elven for the coming season.

...with some more comings and a few goings no doubt!

But who?
