Memory not great but didnt' we beat Horwich 7-2 on Easter Monday before we went and dicked Boston at York Street the season we crawled out of the Unibond?
And was it 7-4 or 7-3 against Emley in the same season, at Crusty?

I await those with Lawrence Bland's stats book at hand to check?

5v3 against Chester last season and the 7v0 loss at Leek did we beat Alty 7v1 in the early conference years.

One of my first ever Morecambe games was a 6v1 win over Droylsden I think I thought it would be like that every week and kept coming back.

That Droylsden game, was it a last game of the season?
Also remember last game of another season winning 8-2 away at Goole, when Cainy got six, cue Shrimper's story.......

...before the game someone had run a sweep (£20 prize) and I'd drawn Cainy as first goal-scorer. I told him about it as he got off the team coach.

When he got his first he ran away from the goal and looked around for me. Didn't have to look too far because I was up and over the little barrier (they were more relaxed about such things in those days) and ran towards the pitch for a quick high five with the man and then back off again.

I think Nigel Webster, club chief exec back then, also came into the nearby working men's club to buy all the fans a drink after the game as well.

On the 'biggest score' debate. I don't know which one it was (the 7-2 v Horwich?) but the scoreboard lad ran out of suitable numbers when it got up to five so started adding numbers together, balancing one number plate against the other.

In the end it read something like Morecambe 5+2, Visitors 2.

I think Nigel Webster, club chief exec back then

Would that be the same Nigel Webster back at CP stood near the tunnel this weekend?

Shrimper,

I think the game in question was the 8-0 defeat of Fleetwood, who we beat 6-0 at their place a few weeks later.

The season that we beat Altrincham 7-0 we also drew them in the Conference Cup and won that match 6-4.

Saw us lose 7-3 at home to Barrow a few years back (I think we were 2-0 up early on as well!)

When I was a young lad, I missed a game because I wasn't feeling well so my Dad went on his own - it was when we won 14-0!!

None of you are even close!!!!!!

The biggest league victory I ever saw was in the Lancashire Combination v Rossendale ( :?: ) and the score was 14-0.

That was in the days when our main rivals where Netherfield, Lancaster, Chorley and Horwich RMI.

Supporters used to travel on the team bus with the players at the front and us kids at the back. We must be talking late 50's early 60's. Happy days.....and excellent memories!

Showing my age with this one.......

I once saw the reserves win 16v0 if that counts funnily enough it might have been against Rossendale.

Going back to the best matches threads I think we had a run of games that went:

Morecambe v Sheffield City FAC 7-1
Morecambe v Kettering Conf 5-3
Morecambe v Gainsborough Trinity 6-2
Morecambe v Dover Athletic 4-1

My Dad, who had never been to a Morecambe match, came to these games with me and didn't go again for a while after Dover he said because there were only five goals and not his usual eight per game.

We also once beat Jupan of Lvov from the Ukraine 7-1 in a mid-season friendly with a full first team.

It could have been 20 but we took it easy and then let them walk in their consolation. It was touted by Uncle Peter as an International Friendly and the side that Andrei Kanchelskis played at. However when I found out one of their players borrowed shin pads of a girl who was practicising on the back field it was pretty obvious they weren't a professional outfit and Andrei had never heard of them.

Going back to the title of the thread.
Most goals in one match

I thought it was in the rules of the game that there are only two goals? One each end!

14-0 I *think*

Certainly a bloomin' lot of goals!

Lancashire FA v Durham FA. Morecambe were representing the Lancashire FA because we'd won the previous season's Lancashire Junior Cup.

Home v Bangor, 0-9 was horrible. They just appeared to be able to score at will from anywhere

So how did that work out then?

That was the night of the 5 + 2 scoreboard. I remember it well. I got given the team sheet and there was no way I would have been able to pronounce the names so one of their entourage came up and read it out for me  The biggest cheer of the night from the Shrimps fans was when they scored their consolation goal
