Uncle Ken's New Game

I must say I was surprised to be taken to task by Ken at half time in response to my request of a few weeks back that he shows us the balls going in his bag before the lucky winner pulls out a snooker ball to win a prize.

I hope he realises that I was indeed serious and that nobody will buy any of his tickets unless there is the transparency that he showed today.

I know that Ken does a lot for the club and I hope there are no hard feelings. To be honest though the new game does nothing for me. The banter between him and Mark is tho often the highlight of the interval, as well as the sadly missed Christie (get well soon)

On a technical note by the way...I am NOT NOT............. Mr. A. Al (whoever that might be). Aal rhymes with ball and shawl and is taken from Lancaster's twin town AALborg.

Ken always used to show the winning key being put into the bag. I'm sure the intention was to show the balls going into the bag but maybe first night nerves got to him the other week

Four of us selling today, normally five but one lad didn't turn up.

Properly understanding the game this week, I felt it's commendable that most people are going to win a prize (7/8 chance) but it takes away some of the drama that OTB had, whether they were 'gonna gamble' and if they would be successful. Now it's basically 'how much will they win?'

Missed the opportunity to buy a ticket today too, came in at 2.40 far side of the North Stand.

I take it that the lad who didnt turn up would have been positioned on the main stand entrance as the only person i saw on entering was the you girl selling programmes, just my observation

I was stood there at the main stand enterance till about 3.05. Was trying to do the north stand enterance too because there was no one there. Always stood in the same place, sorry you missed me.

i'm sure I saw them next to the programme sellers as you came in the near end of the north stand and also had a young lad pass by us at the top of the north stand selling them - i didn't win though!

There has been talk elsewhere on this board about ticket pricing for the forthcoming season(s)
If there is to be an increase in pricing why not use the entrance ticket numbers to provide free entry in the draw. It may have to be restricted to adult tickets and obviously thought would have to be given on how to include season ticket holders. This way people wouldn't have to seek out ticket sellers. Just a thought.

Ken has got a great method of gambling! Last night at the Race Night in the MFC sponsored race the No.6 horse was called "Open The Box" which I recommended he should have a flutter on - so he backed the No.6 then realised it was the wrong race! I know of a few people who had gambling addictions which they worked out with Gambling Anonymous. That programme removes any 'game of chance', to the point that the guy I knew would make a donation rather than actually take a raffle ticket.

It is perhaps possible by selling 'pre-match' tickets that don't include the game element? And they'd still need people selling tickets somewhere for us season ticket holders to buy them?

Don't know about that but they certainly have loads of questions for caravan salesmen
