JC having a bit of a moan about the lack of fans compared with their days in the Conf on Radio Lancashire Sport.

Sounds as though it wouldn't take much for him to jump ship.

I understand from a midlands client that Rushden and Diamonds are monitoring the situation with JC and Watson of Southport in the frame.

really interesting listening to this as it is talking to true fans,is there anything in it for us as we do not get the gates are current football warrants

I believe that we have a larger 'hard core' of fans who don't have the distractions of 'so called' bigger clubs literally on the doorstep. Without playing well until late at home, our gates have been reasonable in view of the lack of money generally in the town at the moment as well as Morecambe not being a 'footballing' town like Barrow for instance.

It was said that when Stanley were at the top of the Conference they were regularly getting 3000 plus to their games and last week against second-placed Brentford they got 1,111.
They felt that Blackburn and Burnley fans had been watching them when they were non-league, but when they became a league club, these fans stopped coming and reverted back to supporting their "number 1" team again. Could the same be said of Morecambe or are there different reasons why our attendances have fallen away? I appreciate we are slightly further away geographically from other league teams than Stanley.

I think it's different at Morecambe fans wanted a taste of life in the football leauge every game was against a 'big side' nows it's just 'another game' locals are no longer exited at playing a team in the football leauge because we play these teams week in week out now

Perhaps it can only improve if we ever have a season where we are around the play off positions, with a genuine chance of going up. Then maybe the bandwagonners return, thinking another Wembley appearance is on the cards.

Accrington...3000+! Who told you that rubbish. I think it was probably an average of around 1700 but no expert but heres a funny fact, well not really funny but...the game in which Accrington won promotion in April 06 was away against Woking and one Shwan Jalal was in goal for Woking who lost to Stanley 0.1 in front of around 2600 fans.

I might be wrong in this but I am pretty sure that if there were no points deductions for any of the affected clubs, we would be only one place below where we are now.

By my reckoning that is not anywhere near a relegation scrap.
