o/t FTP

o/t FTP

Postby Keith » Sat Jul 19, 2008 3:26 pm

The one thing I've struggled with since going over to the Mac side is a decent FTP client that actually works. Cyberduck crashes like a blind chav in a Mondeo and the 'classic FTP' would stall more often than a seven year old chav on a council estate...

Then I found...

Fireftp

http://fireftp.mozdev.org/

It's a Firefox add on, so you open it in your Firefox browser in a new tab. It works on Mac & PC so it's nice to have the same style in both formats. It's free and, so far, it's stable & quick. Needs Firefox 3.0.1 or later but then if you use Firefox, you need that too. Well worth the money!*

*so good that if I'm still using it in a month, I might even send the guy $10

So how did that work out then?

Yes

Me too , but I thought I'd try and find out and found this :

file transfer protocol - protocol that allows users to copy files between their local system and any system they can reach on the network

Sounds fascinating.

Sounds fascinating.

This forum couldn't exist without it. Maybe we need a facebook group in favour of FTP

Stella Artois? She's got a nasty reputation

I read in the Sun (at work!) yesterday (the same one with the Joe Lewis story) that a man broke his wife's jaw and blamed it on Stella

I use FTP Commander
it`s free and stable - used it for about 5 years now - it may not be the best (indeed, it may be! - i`ve not tried anything else!) - but it works for me.

Steady on there Harry! :o
Stella's alright, along with her sister 1664, when Black Sheep Rigwelter is unavailable.

I heart FTP - I will check it out, Keith.

Cyberduck has crashed on me maybe half a dozen times in the three years I have been using it - must be all those dodgy files you are transferring !
