should be more than three apparently :o Roach made a couple of good saves and they hit the bar.

Still, pre-season friendlies are all about fitness

Thanks for pointing that out Keith. As you can imagine that led to a 'word' with the guys who were sat outside taking advantage of our hospitality. :x

I apologised 10 minutes later!

There were six of us in the pressbox trying to figure out who went off for the three substitutes. No board put up.

I hate pre season!

Wainwright and Roche had great games despite the scoreline. Roche stopped it being six. Wainwright is great at whipping crosses in.

 I was just coming back to say...

MarkS redeemed himself because they've also said...

Great to hear the PA announcer wishing North End the best of luck in the coming season, and from everyone at North End we all hope it's another succesful 2008/09 seasonin League Two for Morecambe.

Thought Wayne was best player for us today.got himself involved and wasn't scared to run at them.Roche impressed as well.some very good saves near to the end.Preston just too strong early on.their superior fitness showed.

Unlike last season, Preston showed their class today. It seemed, early on, one or two of them had a point to prove.

I agree that Wayne was our best player throughout the game and Michael Howard also played well. Barry Roche again was impressive; he marshalls the defence, is confident and made one or two really good stops.

Defensively we looked weak down the right hand side with McCann not in the game at all. On today's performance I have to question his positioning; he seemed to be all over the place. I don't think it was a coincidence that their three goals all stemmed from moves down their left hand side.

We put together some better moves in the second half that showed more of what we are capable of. Wainwright continues to impress, particularly when he plays down the right.

Although we were comprehensively beaten today, I think you have to take into account the class of the opposition. There's still a lot of tinkering to do to produce our strongest team, but that's what the friendlies are for.

In fairness to McCann, he prefers playing midfield and I wouldn't argue with him!

Typical pre-season game but still don't like loosing 3-0 to anybody.

Slight improvement in the last 45 minutes.

Is Carl still injured.....?

Barry Roche was superb today.
Commanded his box and was quick out to collect the ball.
Looks like Sammy has found a gem.
Desperately in need of a striker though.

I thought Roche played very solidly - no Jellal moments when kicking the ball and has already been said prevented the score being 6.0 nil. I thought Wainwright had good spells but was second to the ball too much, and appeared to lack a little commitment when going for 50-50 balls- or was it is fitness levels? Wayne worked his socks off to no avail and O’Carroll worked hard without looking like scoring. Agree with a previous post regarding our right back leaving lots of space and frequently being caught out. Looked a more solid side in the second half and I liked the look of Parish when he came on. I thought we would have been more solid defensively with Danny Adams even if he is the fattest footballer in league football! It might have helped if the players played to the numbers in the programme to prevent any confusion regarding the new players on show.
