Danny Adams - MOTM

Danny Adams - MOTM

Postby Martin » Sat Feb 14, 2009 8:59 pm

There will be some who think others may have been more deserving of man of the match today - Curtis, for example, a good display and two goals.

But I was pleased to see Danny get the award. He is one of our better footballers, good awarness, good control, calmly creates space for himself and always looks to find a red shirt - not just hoof. His only downfall is the lack of pace and that's not something he can do much about.

Today I thought he was brilliant. He intercepted most of the loose balls in defence and assisted Wainwright on the wing on several occassions. Both on Tuesday and today there were times when Wainwright was on the ball and Danny would storm ahead to make himself available on the wing.

There were a couplee who could have been MOTM today, but I think Danny deserved it as much as anyone.

IMO Danny has been MOTM for the last 3 games. Very rarely makes a mistake and finds the way out of his corner very well , good awareness and skill for a big bloke.

I suppose that is why he has been a football leauge player for a fair long while now.

well played fella.

Guess the MOTM award is the ultimate opinion comp. IMO I would have given it either to Twiss or Wainwright. Curtis for me did little other than score twice....Sammy was going ballistic at him for being out of position so often!!

Got to agree with Abbo, i have ben very critical of Danny but the 3 5 2 formation suits him and hes been pretty consistent over the last couple of months

Am I right in thinking his contract is up at the end of the season? In which case he's another one playing for his future.

I'm not sure about MOTM, nobody really stood out today, personally i had Twiss down for it but its good to see Adams getting some recognition, he is one of our most consistent performers and seldom has a bad game.

Wainwright, Taylor or Curtis for me I thought Taylors all round game was realy good today he made some good runs held the ball up well and he seems to be really coming on. I think we have missed Curtis more than people realise with the amount of goals he chips in and his runs from the right when he cuts in which is an extra attacking option we haven't had.

I was a guest of the match sponsors on Saturday.

It would have been all to easy to give MOTM to Wayne Curtis for scoring two goals.

However, we never saw Danny Adams put a foot wrong all game and he fully deserved his MOTM award.

How often do you see a defender get it?!

In fairness to Wayne, Sammy was going ballistic throughout the second half at the entire team for playing too deep. The number of times he screamed 'push up..push up' said it all.

Glad to hear Danny had a good game.

I have noticed the crowing for Howard to be given a game has all but stopped. Granted he is out injured, but until recently this has not been an obstacle in people’s obsession with abdicating handing Howard a starting role as soon as he gets fit (based on past performances two seasons ago).

Danny may not be the quickest player to pull on the red shirt, but his skill and awareness on the ball more than makes up for it IMO. Also, he is the sort of player you want in the side when the chips are down......actually chips are probably a bad example to use!

MOTM should have gone to Rene Howe, he did some great light training at half time ;)

Just before it was announced we said 'If it's not Danny Adams then they've not been watching the game properly.'

Twissy, Wainwright, Taylor, Curtis and others all put in good shifts. But Adams was brilliant all game.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

Totally agree with you, or possibly Scott Davies who did some good kicks before the match started in the warm up, but I guess the sponsors wern't watching at that point.
