O/T LOCAL BURGLARY, burglar alarms etc!!

Burglary is massively on the increase nationally, and i would strongly urge shrimps in all areas to get wised up when it comes to home security, I am not an alarm fitter so i have no vested interest in this post, but i have recently been robbed and until it happened had the, so what we are insured view, i am not now in that camp.

they took nothing of mine, and to be honest, i feel no different entering , leaving or living in my house, the same cannot be said of my partner and kids..

17 HOUSES WERE ROBBED IN MY AREA LAST WEEK, AND EVERY SINGLE HOUSE HAD NO BURGLAR ALARM, NOT ONE OF THE HOUSES BURGLED HAD AN ALARM, SO THEY DO PUT BURGLARS OFF!!

All the local diy stores sell wireless alarm systems that are very easy to install, and are very cheap, and can be bought for between £120.00 -£200.

The policeman who dealt with our case assured me that in my area not a single alarmed house was robbed.

as well as fitting my own alarm i have done a few for family members and if anyone on here wants my opinion on the best ones for their needs pm me, people are usually put off by cheap wireless systems but they have come on leaps and bounds and are really easy to install!!!

Also, for thee record, most of the scum that burgle houses , target semi detatched houses with empty drives around school run time, so the average bloke with a family is at work whilst his missus and kids come home to the mess!!!

Having worked for one of those DIY chains for 15 years I can concur that the majority of people who buy burglar alarms do so AFTER being burgled.

I know of a case of one guy who had his house burgled and when the crime officer came round to his house, he suggested that he got himself a wireless burglar alarm that cost around £100 and could be installed in less than an hour. He suggested that he went to Wickes as they had a good selection there. Imagine his embarassment when he had to cofess that he already knew this as he was the manager of the very same Wickes branch.

A few weeks ago PC World were dumping a BT branded wireless system. I managed to pick up a complete system with extra sensors for £40. When the alarm is triggered as well as deafening the neighbours it lets a monitoring centre know and they email/text upto 6 people to warn them. Monitoring is £5 per month.

It replaces a Yale wireless system which, being brutally honest, was an expensive piece of crap.

On a funny note, every time we set our burglar alarm, or set it off, my next door neighbors wireless door bell rings for some reason and he is not happy, I told him, that if his bell rings, theres no one there, and my car is not there, he can check i am not being reburgled

Where did you get that information? Assuming you mean burgled and not robbed, which are different things, that sounds quite a lot for such a small area in just one week. That number of break ins would surely hit the newspapers on a national scale!
