Embargo lifted! Duffy in?

Embargo lifted! Duffy in?

We're all assuming Duffy is the player they're on about but, with Wainer doing so well and central midfield an issue now, not 100% certain. Interesting.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

Well its good news regarding the embargo, certainly a weight of the clubs shoulders.

However does anybody know anything about this Duffy bloke?
What does he offer?

Hope he's not another Carl Baker and uses the club for his own personal development before sodding off for pastures new?!

cARL bAKER LEFT ON TRANSFER WHILST STILL UNDER CONTRACT WHICH FROM A MONEY POINT OF VIEW WAS GOOD FOR THE CLUB , AT THIS POINT IN TIME , IN MY OPINION WE HAVE NO ONE ON THE BOOKS WHO WOULD COMMAND A DECENT TRANSFER FEE.So if Duffy joins us and the same thing happens ,we will again make a profit , Wheeling and Dealing is a vital part of the clubs business

Well I hope he is,and you must bear in mind everyone has to start somewhere for instance
K.K started at Scunthorpe and Joe Hart started at Shrewsbury. From time to time you are going to get a gem, J.J. for example,at the moment we are "Somewhere" but in the future who knows.

you mean like danny carlton, or garry thompson!?

Baker for me, can rot, he was a talent, no doubt but i can't stand these footballers, who "want to talk to other clubs"!!...the one he should have been talking to was us, the selfish .... i can't swear on here can i!?

When players are good enough they will be hunted down by other clubs - thats the way it is. You cannot blame them for taking their chance.

I for one hope C.B. makes a full recovery from his ankle operation and in 2 or 3 years time has made his way through the Championship and into the Premiership, he will know who made him famous in the first place :D

Save the swearing for your commentary tomorrow ;)

that is just plain stupid. Baker did well for morecambe and went for a decent price. This is the way that lower league clubs make their money. To come out with this mock indignity after someone has had the front to try and better themselves is daft.

If it wasn't for the baker money can you imagine the size of our wage cap this year!

I would rather sell players instead of players leave for free like Thommo and Carlton Baker could have probably waited until he was a free agent and got a lot more money in a signing on fee and we would have got nothing.

You lot take things a wee bit too serious.

I was merely stipulating that i would have hoped Baker may have seen out his contract at least, irrespective of money involved.

To refer to the original topic of this thread, Baker and potentially Duffy came from Southport.

Shouldn't we be looking for proven football league players, the signings s.mc has bought from outside the f.l (baker aside) have hardly been inspiring have they!?

I wouldn't as we wouldn't have got any money and our income last season would be even smaller and we would have even bigger problems than we have now.

Thats how clubs surrive selling players on look at Crewe.

We maybe take things seriously when a M.F.C. player, is openly told to "rot" particularly when he gave us such great entertainment last season - and I was the first one to bite :o ,

"I was merely stipulating that i would have hoped Baker may have seen out his contract at least, irrespective of money involved."

Is different as that is an opinion of which most uf us, IMO, would agree but if he had done we would have received nothing - as with the other players you mentioned.

"have you done any yet?!"

Swearing yes, commentary no. There is not enough room for me in the Tardis

OK fair enough, point taken, Crewe are a shining example of your reasoning: their export list is endless...!

True, Crewe are in the mire right now...what they would give for a David Platt, a Dean Ashton, a Rob Jones, or even a Seth Johnson (whatever happened to him!) right now.

According to footy manager, Duffy can also play in the centre so he's an option there. Incidently, his rating as a left winger is "competent" :P

(No, I've never seen him play in real life) 8-)

I cant see that happening mate. He is 27 now and if he had Championship potential someone would have snapped him up by now. Despite all the rumours during last January's transfer window no Championship side came in for him and it would appear to be the same in the summer otherwise he wouldnt have gone to Stockport.

As for the Premiership, he is nowhere near the standard needed for that. He had a good spell for us last season but then faded away

Don't worry, Gudjon and a certain Donaldson (if played! ) will keep my second team up

I see where you are coming from Dick, and that was a bit tongue in cheek :o , but you have to keep your dreams alive. Look at Ryan Giggs, he is 36 this year and is still playing at the top level as a forward.
