So the first shameless plug for a long time...

I've re-done my (frankly awful) Cabarete web site into an amateur but I'm happy with it one.

Have a look at www.cabarete.org and then www.royalresidence.org See where you could go to escape the dreadful winter! 150 photos on the 'kites' page, including a few of a certain young lady from a couple of years ago!

Feedback on style and content gladly accepted. Cheap prices negotiated for Shrimpsvoices readers!

So how did that work out then?

Where do you fly from/to?
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

I generally go Manchester to Puerto Plata (Man - POP) with Thomson.
http://flights.thomson.co.uk/en/index.html
They go Wednesday to Wednesday.
Thomas Cook also fly out of Manchester but to be honest, they are usually more expensive and less reliable. MyTravel also fly/flew MAN-POP but I think they have merged with Thomas Cook.

Thomson can be good value, for example, flying next Wednesday (18th Feb) booking today (11th Feb) you can get a return flight for £248 including taxes. I generally book about 5 weeks ahead to get a balance of good price and availability, currently that would be £328 inc taxes. Is half term the 4th March by any chance? Not being a child owner, I'm never sure of these things, but I noticed a spike in prices...

Depart Wed 25th £298
Depart Wed 4th £358
Depart Wed 11th £308...

I know they do cream parents during the summer holidays but then, unless you have to, why go during the summer holiday period, when it is reasonably nice here rather than during the winter when it is horrible here?

You can get regular and sometimes decently priced flights from Gatwick as well as irregular flights from Newcastle & Birmingham. I once flew from Cardiff for £28 each way plus tax (about £110 inc as I recall) but they don't fly that route any more.
