Thought Wainwright did very well to get the ball to the only Morecambe player within 30 yards of the goal.

Very good performance last night, kicked off by two excellent saves early on by Roche. A few dicey moments at the back were more or less dealt with, but it was nervy in the second half as we sat back further. On several occasions we broke away, but players seemed either unwilling or were under instructions not to go forward.

Shame about Howe at the end - hope it's not too serious.

It's easy to see why people get frustrated at the team - great against Chesterfield, pathetic against Stanley, medicore against Port Vale, then last night. To be honest, I thought we were going to get a humping last night, really pleased with what I saw.

I think that was the post Accrington performance Sammy was looking for on Saturday but never quite got.

I thought we were excellent all over the pitch. Solid at the back - only remember Roche making one save of note, although it was a cracker. There was plenty of closing down in midfield, which was sadly lacking last week, some neat crisp football, and we seemed to show a bit of pace going forward, I always had a strong feeling we'd get a 2nd on the break.

I thought Wainwright fully deserved his MOM, but plenty of other good performances, for me, Drummy, Rene, Bentley and Adams spring to mind.

Out of our 7 wins 5 of them have been against teams in the top half and 3 have been against teams in the top 7.While only managing two wins against bottom sides Macclesfield & Chester.

Last night we seemed a lot more up for the game and straight from Kick Off played with more of a tempo and pace which has been lacking nearly all season most of the time we have been at what feels like walking pace and all laboured and heay with no sign of been able to up the pace.

I just think against bottom teams we get sucked into a hoofing competition with them and the game plan goes to pot and we wend up with two poor teams playing poor football. Against better teams we have to be a bit more imaginative and get a bit more time on the ball which obviously suits us.

Excellent result. Grinding out results is what is about for us between now and the end of the season.

On a completely different point altogether.

Hmm, not so easy, they all display the same URL?

Keith this looks like your trying to copy an image from Flickr or something. Firstly Tut tut. the spaceball.gif is there to protect the person who uploads the image! shame on you.

What you need to do is view the page as a source. do a search for spaceballs. At the top of that script there will be a image tage like this === "<img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/187/374938963_d627591374.jpg"

thats what your after. (Cheers Campdave for this)

Always play to our potential against teams who allow us the room to express ourselves.

We did to them (well mostly) what Accy did to us, stopped them from playing their normal game.

Was suprised with the sub of Hunter on for Twissy. Appeared to us that Sammy was banking on 1-0.

Overall a good result but second half we weathered a minor storm in midfield but they didin't really test Roach.

As for McDonald.....

Quite - we did it well at Chesterfield as well - that's how we set up these days.

At Accy that wasn't possible. It's a tight pitch and they spread four across the middle but further up than a regular 'midfield' would play and it allowed them to cut off our supply to the wide men and, because it's a narrower pitch, funnelled everything into a tighter space which they exploited with their quick, pass and move tactic.

At the moment we don't seem to have a readily adaptable Plan B and, for those teams that really do their homework against us, that is something Sam and Mark will need to address.

As many of us have said in recent weeks, we aren't as bad as we showed at Accy and we aren't as good as we showed last night (because we're not consistently one or the other). We are somewhere in between.

And, just as we can't get too carried away with the excellent display last night. I hope some people will remember, next time we have a really poor one, that you can't judge the manager, club, or team on individual games.

Still buzzing though, that was enough to warm us all up!

PS - It looked bad when Howe limped off (hamstring?) but I saw him 'warming down' with a few others after the final whistle which may indicate it wasn't quite so bad.

Keith was trying to paste from flickr, with my permission ;) I was streaming photos from the camera to the internet within a minute of them being snapped. Just testing the technology, bandwidth, etc.

Great post Shrimper, agree entirely.

Though I was not at the game last night, I can relate to the performance having seen us a fair few times since the turn of the year. In general our play and style has improved greatly during this period, and so has our form since mid December. I think most sane, rational people can see what Sammy is trying to do. Games like Accy obviously weren't part of the script, but I thought the reaction on here was OTT. The absence of those blancmanges opinions who shed the majority of the unconstructive criticism last week is noted.

Consistency is still a problem, but if can continue to play like we have been doing recently and win a few more games away from Christie (also a problem for us stemming back to the conference days) I see no reason why we can't achieve a top half finish.

I didn't read much that was OTT after the Accy match - it was a very poor night full stop. It was summed up best by Sammy himself and most of the local respected media - "they didn't turn up" are they cast as 'being negative' - but why go back to it ???? If a football forum has a purpose its for fans to say how they feel isn't it ? if you go to the match and support your team then tell it like it is.

Last night was much , much better and almost a mirror reflection of THAT match in that Brentford didn't 'turn up' this time and I bet there forum is bulging with criticism at present. We showed last night what we're about -effort and determination and beat one of the top teams and they can have little complaints about the result.
I think some people are being 'over protective' or sensitive of the club/team when they read a critical post - there's little point putting fingers to keyboard if you can't say what you feel IMO - its not fickle or bad support its 'telling the truth' anything else would be 'Bad faith'. Any notion that the manager should be replaced is to my mind absolute nonsense but if somebody posts this , you'd reply and give your reasons. Its pretty obvious that he's worked a bit of magic with the squad after last night - every match is 11 players against 11 and it doesn't matter whether your playing Brenford or Barnet if you give 100% there's a chance you'll get a result.

Slack, people make their opinions felt and others, if they don't agree, say so. That's, as you say, what these boards are about.
That will often come across as someone saying someone else is 'going over the top', 'should think before they post' or simply 'is talking rubbish'.

That's how some people express themselves but it's all just debate.

On this issue I think the only real point I'm making is that a lot of people watch one poor result and all of a sudden start saying players aren't good enough for this league, our manager is clearly not as good as the manager whose team's just beaten us, we are bound for relegation etc.

If they'd just said: 'We were rubbish last night', 'we are always rubbish at Accy' or similar then I don't think anyone could possibly have disagreed. But some went further and tried to make out it was typical in some way of our players, our manager and our season. It wasn't. (In fact it was a very marked 'blip', we've not done too badly this year).

Personally (and THIS is only my opinion) I think THAT is what is over the top.
Likewise if anyone now came on here saying we can make the play-offs based on a great win over a team second in the table.

They can say all of that, of course, but shouldn't be surprised if others challenge them - just like people can challenge what others of us say in response.

Given our Jekyll & Hyde nature of late, I think the important issue now is can we maintain it on Saturday? Rochdale are going great guns at the moment so it won't be at all easy but given we seem to do better against teams in the upper echelons, who knows?

I was merely highlighting and questioning how ridiculous the extent of the criticism was by supporters after that game. Yes we lost (not for the first time this season), and perhaps a bigger disappointment was that we played badly, but that was one loss and one sub standard performance since mid December IMO. Yet some people forget this, and feel the need to spout unconstructive and unnecessary criticism. I refer to the Stanley game because it aids my argument of people 'talking rubbish', and is fresh in peoples minds.

I score no kudos points for being closely aligned with the club officials or players which might influence my opinion or what I post. Believe you me, I'd be amongst the first to pipe up when the team are not playing well, even if we were getting results. Recently to my eyes this has not been the case. What I read on here sometimes isn't critical (as you put it), its mindless tosh with little logic or thought behind it. I'm not going to direct you to particular threads, but after that night in Stanley a whole host of things appeared to be questioned that included Sammy, his tactics, his transfer dealings, the clubs survival etc. This was all seemingly based on one poor display. Can you see why this stance is ridiculous? Some posters focussed too much on one. Fair enough it was their opinion, but the fact that it is their own opinion, makes it no less a laughable one (as highlighted elsewhere, by others requesting the likes of the Neds to contribute after a good performance, and a very good result).

Not sure what the rest of your post means.......its waffle. :D

Tosh & Waffle .... There's always plenty of that when you put football supporters of any team together. You see I didn't know you were:
closely aligned with the club officials or players

I think what 'some' of our more 'positive thinking' fans might of objected too was the volume of critical , illogical tosh posts that appeared on the 'Just got back' Subject. Of course some of these will have been said in the heat of the moment and a lot of it is cathartic , better than kicking the cat ? It was generally 'lack of passion , gutless .. worst I've seen since..... Unhelpful , probably , but a lot of the posters also went to the match and don't always say such things ; therefore its valid for them to express it on a Morecambe Football Forum ...isn't it ?? You can just ignore it. Sometimes I've read 'glowing reports' of players and performances in posts when I've been there and I've wondered were they at the same match ? The other 'old' favourite is to castigate the Ref when he's got the odd decision wrong and fans are convinced he's biased ?
Anyway thats enough waffle from me :D :D

Just to clear this up, perhaps you have misread or it is not clear (probably the latter). When I made that statement I was pointing out that I was not closely aligned with club officials or players, hence this is not influencing my opinion. I was in no way attempting to appear like Mr Big Balls.

Waffle Marky- big tall fella , walks with a limp, his Dad used to be a traffic warden in Lancaster , his Mother used to be a cleaner on the railways always had a hairnet on and smoked Parkdrive. He had a sister Irene she emigrated to Australia and married a sheep farmer but he took to drink and they lost everything.... His brother Alan was very small a very good table tennis player , I heard he settled down in Doset somewhere and it was rumoured he was ... well ..you know. There was also a rumour he got caught giving a Donkey what for .. but it was never proven.
