I get the impression that the real concern isn't one that is isolated to one game or performance, it's the fact that the squad we have this season is not as strong as last year (I'm choosing my words carefuly), and we have a transfer embargo with no end in sight. Does that mean we'll be weaker next season? If so we'll be up the creek without a paddle. You can't hope to survive, and that is our priority in the real world, if your squad/team gets worse year on year. No disrespect to the current staff or the management, but ultimately maybe our scouting needs improving. we have to go for players we can afford, and it will always be a bit hit and miss (every manager signs the odd turkey) but we can't afford to get 4 or 5 every summer.

luton and bournemouth will be relegated
we wont be that a stonewall
we dont have to break the bank or try and squeeze too much withthe squad as we know we will be in league two next year we just need th eplayers we have to be fit and well
we have enough in the squad this year no problem to ensure safety
we wont have an embargo next season me thinks
we will have money and we will have an historic last season at the pie
get odds now on playoffs next season and i think we will all be quids in
stay positive
enjoy the ride everyone
this club is going places so dont miss out

And your point is?

Of course we're fickle. That's what many football fans are like. You hand out the plaudits when the team plays well but the flip side is that the players have to face the music when they turn in a performance like last night.

We'll all be there Saturday supporting the team, and yes we'll be back-slapping if they play well and win but for you to suggest that we all should just shrug off a display like that with a "hey-ho roll on Saturday" is a bit rich.

Shrimpscene has the bloody nerve to call me and others "fickle" because i and others voiced our opinions regarding that disgracefull performance lastnight, i paid £21 to get in and put petrol i my car, spent money in the ground then had to watch that shambolic performance. As i said in my post lastnight there have been too many bad performances this season and when people air there opinions they get slated for it. I wonder what would be said if Luton and Bournmouth were not in the position they are currently in. Its all well and good saying get behind the lads, but the lads have got to do there bit too and to be honest its wearing a bit thin now, and again as i said lastnight the buck stops with the manager and he should go !!!!!!

Remind me how many league games we have won since New Years Day 08 up till lastnight ??????? i think a manager lives or dies by the signings he makes, the team he sends out, the tactics they use.

How many should we have won? We're a small team in the league, and our form matches pretty much all the teams around us with similar gates and resources

The shrimps need to produce some consistency in their playing... time and again we've been asked to get behind the lads, and yes, there will be occasions when they don't play well, but there have been more poor shows this season than good. Fans are behind the team, but does Morecambe FC appreciate that we pay their wages? There's a recession on and £13 is a lot for many people to pay. The Shrimps can play well but something has gone badly wrong this season. It'll be refreshing to see some consistent hunger for the ball, a willingness to attack, some speed of play, some accuracy and precision with placing the ball, and attempts at goal. Hunger to win and play well is not something that money can buy, so cries of "we're not able to buy in new players" are pointless-we have to use what we have to our best advantage. This is about team spirit and commitment...perhaps some players have become too complacent? Come on lads, YOU CAN DO IT!

so would you rather go back to the Conference Abbo, or the Northern Premier League which is where we were only 14 years ago ????????

Come on. Get a grip. We have travelled so far in such a short period of time. I'm getting fed up of saying it now. We're there. In the FL. And people still want us to sweep everyone aside with ease.

Ok, a bit of passion in a performace is a MUST. But come on, be realistic from time to time mate.

The team just need to realise you need to pass the ball forward and run forward instead of standing around passing it sideways and hoofing. We really do look like we have no idea most of the time.

In the majority of games this season we have been painfully boaring and it's hard enough for us regulars to find motivation to watch never mind a neutral or fair weather fan and add the recent money issues and people will find something better to do with the £13.

In the conference we probably used to get a lot of neutrals who came to watch us if their team was away to watch an entertaining game I doubt very much those same people have come this season as they probably realise they are watching the poorest Morecambe team for many a year with absolutley zero entertainment value.

Abbo, don't get too het up about Shrimpscene. He's the eternal optimist and he'd manage to say only positive things about relegation (which is where we're headed next season if we keep more than 8 of the present squad). Consistency is key. We were brilliant on Boxing Day, unlucky against Bradford, awful against Gillingham, good at Chesterfield and disgraceful last night. Without points deductions we'd be in 20th. So far it's been a forgettable season. People ask how John Coleman manages the way he does with Accy. For me, it's simple. He's a superior manager.

Good post Marky.

The thing which hurts more than most for people is they realise we can't compete with the majority of teams in this league as they have far bigger resources than us but we should be at least competing with teams with similar resources like Accy, Chester, barnet etc so when Accy have such a convincing win and we can't even compete with them that's what gets people.
I remb earlier in the season looking up the league at such teams when we were 5th off bottom and you just can't understand why we aren't evening competing with the smaller teams in the league.

When you are near the bottom of a league you need to beat the teams around you and for a team around us to be so convincing over us then rightly people ask questions.

But Accrington are below us and Chester are below us. As well as Barnet and Grimsby (if you are not counting the teams with deductions).

Only Accrington in the entire league have less gate income than us.

You are right though. It is shit in the Football League. Do they not realise that we have a divine right to win every game?

I hope we do get relegated so we will win a few games.

Get a grip all you 'Armchair Managers'

As for John coleman being a superior manager! :o I take it you didnt see the TV series?

I honestly am starting to believe that some people are not happy unless they have something to moan about.

I've been one of the more optimistic posters on here this season and even i can say that was a pile of shite at Accy. Totally unaceptable and the sooner everyone recognises that then we can all move on. To be honest the last twelve months under McIlroy have been poor. However we've all been patient and understanding this season. Most of us are realistic enough to give Sammy time. We know we lack resources.

However for some that goodwill finally seemed to run out at Accy. A lazy arse performance as we got pissed wet through in the rain. Value for money? You're having a laff when players can't even pass the ball five yards!

This season has been a shambles at times and a big improvement needed to get the fans back onside against Vale. Yes i know we'll all be behind the team, that goes without saying, but definite damage done between player/fan relations by that abysmal effort at Stanley.

Coley will be reading all these and laffing his scouse socks off. Yet no one can deny that Accy deserved it by a country mile - and that ain't right Sammy. We've gone backwards this season and if it isn't sorted in the summer then we'll be in even more pooh.

Seasider 9601 & Marky, i fully take on board what your saying, i dont know if you went lastnight but we were a shambles (apart from Barry, and i felt sorry for him because he had no protection in front of him). its ok to say we are a small town club but is it ok for the players to take that attitude onto the pitch with them, i dont think it is. Mark S, its nothing to do with armchair managers opinions, i have been involved in football, having played, managed, and refereed for many years and i know crap when i see it, and i saw it lastnight and that kind of performance is not acceptable, these guy's are full time proffesional players that probably get paid a lot more than a lot of people around here.

didn't go last night due to other committments but sounds as though Accy did their usual job on us, ie. playing in our faces. We hardly ever do anything decent against them so just get over it and support our team in their next game.

Hmm just get over it and get behind the team in the next game. I think my problem is that i expect the players to go out and work there bollocks off in every game. But if they cant even pass the ball to a team mate, wont close attackers down, wont tackle, all pretty basic stuff really in a football match, i suppose i will just have to accept it.
