Well I'm not surprised by either of these...

However after a slow start, I felt that McCann was just the type of player we need in midfield. He's an all action player, not afraid to be creative and tho I think Yates is a stronger full back, I rate McCann over many of our midfield options.

Prob wants to return to Scotland. Am sure he'll be snapped up by a good club. Best wishes to him and Michael for all their efforts.

Good luck to both of them. I'm equally not suprised though!

I'm sure he'll be appreciated there in the same way that Sean O'Connor was.

To be honest I'm surprised they allowed him to go in the summer.

Like others i wish them both success with their future clubs.

Maybe these departures along with that of PL will allow us a bit of room to negotiate our way out of the embargo.

Good luck to them, pity it didn't work out but that's often the case and if they are not going to play an active part in the first team squad then its better for them and the club if they leave.

We didn't see much of Carr on the pitch did we, he must have been really shocking in training!

Best wishes to both of them. Both showed signs of promise during their time here, particularly Ryan, but obviously it was not to be. Hopefully the release of these two along with Lloyd will allow us to bring others in before the transfer window closes, otherwise it would all be in vain, although I expect the club are ready to pounce as soon as the embargo is lifted.

Terrible decision whoever it was made by, how can this football club move on with the likes of Garry Hunter and Matthew Bell, Mccann was a decent player and i can think of much much worse at the club!

shocked at this decision really bad judgement in the summer or a totally lack of confidence in players. Which one is it?

a pity about McCann but perhaps he was homesick for Burns Country and it is Burns night on Sunday. I thought he was a better defensive midfielder than either McLatchlan or Hunter.

Carr was beginning to show promise and I can only think Sammy has a midfielder lined up as we are very short in that department.

He will have to hurry if he wants to sign Mark Duffy from Southport as Bury are being linked with a move for him.

I'd like to have seen Carr for a bit longer but I suppose they thought they didn't have time to see if he would fulfil the promise he showed at Southport and in pre-season.

We'll all have our 'I like X better than Y' preferences but sometimes it's not just about that.

We don't know about what goes on behind the scenes as regards players being prepared to look elsewhere and other clubs being prepared to take them. Or the amount of money they're on.

Getting one player off the books might be equal in cash terms to getting two younger, less experienced players shifted.

And I agree - ALL managers have to take a bit of a risk on players they get in. Not all of them will work out.

If a manager gets far more wrong than right then fair enough, they should get the stick. But Sammy hasn't done that so far IMO.

I guess this thread shows sometimes you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. People have spent a lot of time criticising Sammy for the signings he made in the summer and it partly causing our crrent embargo, and now he gets rid of two players many feel have disappointed, he gets criticised again.

Personally, I'd have liked to keep hold of McCann, but with him not featuring so much in the first team, maybe he was happy to have his contract cancelled, we'll never know.
