I bet the landlord of the pub is one happy bunney, with the prospect of having a hell of a lot more custom coming his way.

Which will be closer, William Mitchell or York? Don't forget the paths behind the York straight through to Westgate.

All depends how good the pub/club is they build at the new ground depending how the Mitchell will do. I would think the York regulars will still go to the York and also away fans as Mick is pro active in getting the away fans in.

I hope they make a really good club house like the one at Grays and try to come up with a few new ideas. The club wouldn't go wrong using Morecambe Cricket Club as an example especially as there a more than a fair few MFC supporters that drink in there. It always think it's a big missed oportunity that they are spending money in there and none to the football club.

The other problem is a pint is £2.60/£2.70 in JB's at the william mitchell it is £2.41 so the club will have to look at it or they could loose customers to the Mitchell.

Maybe they could bring in optional membership like at the Cricket club where anyone and everyone is allowed in free (unlike JB's when it was membership or pay £1) but if you are a member and pay £10 a year you get beer cheaper £2.15 a pint but if you are a non member you pay full price £2.40 a pint. For JB regulars you would soon get your £10 back over the season.

I think the £1 membership was kicked in to touch when 24hr drinking (Legal) came in as for prices,Beer to me is similar to petrol in this area the further north you go the more you have to pay,for instance I was Taking drink in the Black Bull Foolwood on sunday @ £2.25 a pint you say £2.41 @ M.CC yet up in the sticks we pay
£2.80 for "now whats that aussie word for pizz" that's IT FOSTERS

The Mitchell would have to change beyond recognition to beat the York for, well, pretty much everything.

I cannot understand the mentality of people debating a few pence difference in a pint, I do not go in the york as i live on morecambe rd and take my 11 year old son to the home games, I would guess that the track from the york to the new ground would be quicker than going to the characterless mitchell!

I do not know Mick the landlord of the york hotel, but being a Morecambe fan, he seems to me to have provided a bit of a good crack for away fans en route and after wards for home and away fans!

And reasonably priced overnight stops, good on him.

I wholeheartedly agree!

The Mitchell is a dreadful pub that would need a massive injection of cash, personality and passion in order to even think about competing with The York. I think that under Mick's guidance the York has become a great pub with an excellent reputation for friendliness and quality food & drink.

I'd vote to go to The York over The Mitchell any day of the week.

If they have a decent club at the new stadium we should all go there before the game . the club will need as much suport as possible.

The Trimpell club is just as close as the Mitchell. Cheap beer Carlsberg export only £2.15 a pint, Bitters approx £1.80/90p at the Moment, Sky/ Setanta TV. Membership £15 a year but after the first 50 pints you would be in profit! :D
