Good luck to him, hope he does a good job there.

Hope it works out for him.

Have to admit there was never a chance of my 'dream management team' of Jimbo and Jimmy ever becoming a reality but it would have been an excellent partnership.....in my opinion..... :(

Not sure if a certain Joe Carroll once played for us but the name is familiar. If so it was sad to hear via John Coleman on Radio Lancashire of his recent death.

I seem to recall a Carroll being a midfielder of some class who chipped in with a few goals.

Probably played in the 60's.... :?: :?: :?:

We did have a Joe Carroll but he was more late 70's or early 80's ish.

Joe Carroll was a superb non league talent. We were lucky to have him, he had a couple of short spells with us in the 80's and was way too good for us.He had good close control and technically very tricky, he brought players in and played passes that his team mates looked at him like he was from Mars!!
He had curly hair like Cainy and scored one of the best goals I've ever seen at any level at Crusty Pie. We won a throw about thirty yards out in front of the Stand on the left, it was thrown at him, he turned a and without letting it bounce volleyed it into the top corner from way out with his
Left foot all in one movement, incredible technique! I will never forget it. We lost the game as I remember but that goal always stayed with me.
He was a very clever footballer, played in the no10 role and at the time was streets ahead of the players he played with when he was at the club. He was playing abroad and just kept fit by playing for us in between contracts.

Sad loss, as he was a good player for us. Didn't stay long but I remember him as he was bloody good.
Frisnit Frisnit!!
