Major club announcement Tuesday am

Postby Christies Child » Mon Jan 19, 2009 6:57 pm

Gary Hickson has just said on Radio Lancashire's Sports Show that a major announcement is to be made by the club on Tuesday morning.

Please don't shoot the messenger!

The for sale boards were no more than a sponsorship deal with GF Property.

Now if i was a betting man i would have a 10p bet that the club have shelved plans for the new ground for various reasons.

Ok I'll speculate with a positive.....Contracts signed for sale of CP and a definate commencement date for the new Stadium.

But...I've been wrong before!

Positive Thoughts - Start date for new stadium; Major cash injection; Club bought by billionaire fan

Negative Thoughts - New stadium plans scrapped; Administration; Club to merge with Lancaster City

Neutral Thoughts - Sammy sacked/resigned

It will no doubt be none of the above

For a guess a start date for the new stadium. If it was negative news surley they wouldn't make a big announcement about it and just put a statement on the website like when we were plaed under the embargo.

Remember radio lancashire were heavily envolved the day the new stadium plans were anounced so i suspect it is a similar thing.

I've heard that The Bay Radio stated the announcement would have "a strong impact on the local community" or something like that...

I imagine (and hope) it will be quite good news.

I also heard that on the bay this morning. Has to be some progress on the ground move.

Surely it's the news that we have a start date... and Christie Park has been sold.

As has been said you don't stage a press conference to announce bad news you just stick a statement on the website!!

the following is off the bay radio website

"Morecambe Football Club are set to make what they describe as a 'big announcement' on the future of their Christie Park Stadium tomorrow.

They have called a press conference in the morning where we will find out more.

The club are not releasing any more details just yet, but describe the news as 'very significant to the area'.

We will of course be there to find out more."

it wont be administration. we wudnt be buillding a brand new stadium if we in major financial trouble
it wont be that they have shelved the new stadium as its an essential for the future of the club
and it wont be that sammy has been sacked as hes recently signed a extension.

so the only logical explantion is the offical go ahead of the new stadium.

To me, that suggests its something to do with either the new stadium or Christie park. And I hope Im wrong, but I think its bad/neutral news. I think they would describe it as an "exciting announcement" or something to that effect if it were good news.

Anyway... we'll find out tommorow.

I know what it is.

Roman's brother is obsessed with potted shrimps in butter.
He was told that the only way to buy the factory was to purchase the football team.

On a serious note I bet we have to merge with Lancaster.
Morecaster City FC, sounds like something out of Roy of the Rovers.
