Phil Bolland

I was expecting Bolland to play in one of the pre-season games this week. Anybody know what's happening with him?

I think that we could put the cost of his wages to better use. Maybe towards a proven striker? After all on the evidence of Monday the Jimbo / Mcstay partnership looked worthy of an extended trial. Don't forget that we've also got Artell and newcomer Parish although not the physically the biggest of players he seems to have a bit of pace about him.

McStay for me plays the better ball out of defence as we saw on Monday and it was noticeable that when replaced that in the space of 10 minutes Barrow were allowed at least 3 clear headers on goal with the defence not marking the player concerned.

If we need to replace or provide additional adequate cover then DA must come intro the equation. Although PoY he appears to have put on some more weight and although his awareness will get him through some games, his lack of speed could be a big problem. MH on last nights performance is not, at the moment, an alternative.

Bolland is now 32 and has had 2 clubs last season.

I agree with CC about Bolland. A great player with Scott Guyett in the centre of defence at Chester in their promotion winning season. However his career appears to have been on the wane since then. Would rather see if we could find a couple of young 'uns to make the step up rather than someone on the way down.

Talking of triallists Stanley have one of our old boys :D

But it was Stanley who made the breakthrough 20 minutes from the end, when an effort from trialist Donny Clark deflected past Lee Bracey into the Rossendale goal.

Kempo's also gone back for a month
