I would have thought playing it behind closed doors would be the obvious move, possibly in the afternoon or even on the Thursday afternoon. If it isn't mentioned/confirmed, then there won't be a protest outside the ground.

The Board are a very astute bunch of businessmen who know what they are doing, I think you are underestimating them, George

Hearing a few rumours that this game will go ahead but behind closed doors. Wouldn't surprise me as it would be too short notice to get another opponent the same level to replace them at such short notice.

I wonder how much revenue we'd lose and would Blackpool recompense us?

If the club were really savvy, they could easily sell tickets to FCoM members & season ticket holders only. Fans who aren't either may be tempted to buy a season ticket or join FCoM (for a fiver!) Would Blackpool fans join FCoM just to get a ticket to protest? Unlikely, especially if joining involved visiting the Globe a few days before the game or at another pre-season friendly. That way the club get the revenue of home fans, fans get to see the game and FCoM/season tickets get a bit of a boost, all without the agro of Blackpool protesters.

One of your better posts of late Keith..... ;) ;) ;)

Excellent suggestion.

Let's hope that the Board read it and act accordingly.

I understand the police played a part in the cancellation and their costs would have been prohibitive if the game had gone ahead. Not sure they would have gone along with any suggestion of limiting entry to Shrimps supporters in case it still attracted Blackpool fans to the area with the possibility of public order offences.
