according to this http://www.morecambefc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10866~1445745,00.html he's contracted until the end of next season.

no reason to suppose he wants to move, although i don't know anything about cork fc and whether they are an attractive prospect.

to be fair that article doesn't say anything except that your chairman has called/faxed/emailed our chairman. no mention of a reply. sounds like a tactic to speed up coughlan accepting the post.

According to the Radio McIlroy is very interested.

Do you guys rate him as a manager? Its probably a risk on our part hiring a manager from the British 4th Division so i'm not sure if he's the right person

No idea. To me, going from League 2 to the League of Ireland would be a downward step, but who's to say there's nothing in it?

Did the radio interview Sammy and hear him come out with the words 'I am very interested' - or did they say something like: "According to Cork owner Tom Coughlan, McIlroy is 'very interested'"?

There is nothing in regards to Sammy McIlroy on page 44.

Also to let you know there has been a lot of people linked with the position in the last few weeks.

Oh absolutely. It went like this:
I get a call from a reporter in Ireland (not the one named on the article here) asking if I've heard anything this end.
I say not and that I'd doubt Sammy would be tempted, then give the chap a couple of numbers of contacts at the club.
I search for any detail and see this same story.
Then I make a couple of calls and write a 'holding' story for our website.
Then I come on here to see if there's any more detail, see the thread and, while I'm at it, put up a link.

MFC needs a cash injection, buying out his contract would provide the cash. Interesting situation. Not that I want Sammy to leave but it must be making some of the board think seriously.

Hopefully more effective than Blackpool's recent refusal.

Could Cork afford to buy out Sammy's 18 month contract as it wouldn't be cheap.

and Sammy has a lot of media comitments in this country which he would struggle to make eg midweek trips to skysports news and MUTV apperances.

Managers get linked with vacant managerial posts all the time, some of the links are pretty absurd buts that's the nature of the game, not saying that's the case with this one but i cant really see it happening, hope not anyway.

Can't see Sammy wanting to manage in a league of Conf. North standard.

Also can't see him commuting from Lymm in Cheshire very easily.

We've no idea what's in Sammy's contract. I don't know what your employment contract states but I've got a notice period built into mine and I could quit when I want (for the record DeeBee, I ain't!). If I walked out immediately I think it's only the notice period that a compensation claim could refer to.

come back when you can spell !!

Sammy will not want to manage in a league that nobody knows anything about or cares for that matter.

That is a very ignorant statement you have made there. You know nothing about the standard of our league.I am not going to get into a slagging match with someone like you so i will leave it at that.
