O/T Released players elsewhere

Ross Hannah was red hot in the scoring charts when he was with Matlock Town a few years back.

He was then signed by Bradford City and then flogged off to Grimsby and its never really happened for him since.

Seems to have scored more goals at Grimsby than he did at Bradford. In 2013 he scored 19 goals according to wikipedia.

A huge loss for Stanley when added to Nicky Hunt and Atkinson.

Did Ross Hannah score a last minute equaliser for Bradford City against Morecambe at the Globe a few years back ?

Wonder if he was on Jimbo's wish list.... :?: :?: :?: Same with fellow former Accy Robinson but he's probably going to join up with his former manager now at Portsmouth.

As for Wes Fletcher released at York, Wes was a prolific striker in his Burnely Res days but didn't do the same when given his first team opportunity. Have to be honest I didn't realize the number of loans he had had prior to joining York. However if Jimbo is interested then that's good enough for me....

His goals scored record is a cross between Jordan Burrow and Jack Sampson.

Still think that it was a mistake to release Padraig and if he goes back to Accy he may come back to haunt us....

Goals v Appearances for us was pretty good in my opinion.... :)

We're ok, Barrow fans are suggesting his signing now.

The Barrow Forum mentioned Ross Hannah and I seem to recall him being mentioned a few seasons ago as someone who could learn his trade with us..... :?: :?: :?:

There are a number of 'good' players who are looking for a new club this season which might suggest that clubs are cutting back on their more expensive players. Fleetwood being a prime example where they are going more for a youth set up than the more expensive squad player.

By coincidence though, Fleetwood have made their third signing already today.

Sonoco (??) a French striker.

Quality not quantity is good for me, but it's nice to have a couple on the bench that might make a difference.
4 strikers at the same time is not the answer imo

Aye,
we need a variety of midfielders, the midfield as always been our weak link in the FL, and where games are won and lost.

Yes George and with a bit of beef about them too, just look at those two teams on display today its difficult to find one under 6ft and one of the reasons why they are there and we are not . ;)

David Buchanan the PNE defender who I understand Jimbo was interested in taking on loan earlier this year has been released from PNE and has signed for Northampton.

Portsmouth continue to develop their squad under new manager Cook and he's returned to former club Accy Stanley and signed Karl Naysmith and is now after Gary Roberts of Chesterfield.

Pompey could be a major force this coming season along with both Oxford and Northampton who by the sounds of it are 'splashing the cash' in an effort to gain promotion. Good luck to 'em but sometimes such attempts to 'buy' promotion fail miserably.

Rory Donnelly who had a loan spell with Tranmere last season has been released by Swansea. Young, 6'2" striker who had a great start in terms of goalscoring before Micky Adams inexplicably started playing him on the wing. I'd be well interested in him.

According to Bury they are not interested in signing Lewis Alessandra. Now Sampson has gone shame we can't bring him back to the northwest near his family. ;)

I wouldn't want him, he's no better than what we've got.

Never ceases to amaze me the amount of former players our fans would want back immediately in our squad.

Alessandra, Perkins, Thommo, Stanley etc etc etc.

They've all had their time with us, moved on for differing reasons, and we move on too.

How do you know that when he has been at Plymouth for the last 2 seasons? He has scored plenty for Plymouth as well as scoring twice against us. I would give him a second chance just like Laurence Wilson and Scott Davies. I seem to remember that Jim wanted to keep him before he joined Plymouth.

Thommo got offered more money. Perkin's is way out of our budget but Lewis is probably within our reach on wages compared to them both.

As for Alessandra, HE wouldn't want that second chance though as he left originally due to the decreased offer he was given by the club.

Anyway, he's got aspirations of playing higher so, we move on.

Had his time with us.

But also players circumstances may change, especially that he wants to move back up north being closer to his family. We gave Laurence Wilson,Scott Davies and legend Stewart Drummond another chance, so I don't see we have moved on. The three players that did come back for a 2nd spell have improved us. Not long back many wanted Scott Davies back permanently so I would be happy if it happened.
