Chorley had a clear equaliser denied them right at the death too.

Sounds like a choke.

Well done to Guiseley though , a very small club to make the Conference.

Chorley pulling decent crowds these days. do they still have the stand that mirrors our old school end terrace at cp?

Gutted for Chorley, always had a soft spot for them. They've been getting good crowds on all season. Given their location some of their attendances are very impressive, what with several league and premiership clubs all within 30 mins travel.

Best thing in Guiseley when we played them in the trophy many years ago was that Harry Ramsden's chippy was close to the ground! The ground itself was probably smaller than Marine's and they wouldn't let them into the conference (fortunately)! How times change

Its not Harry Ramsden's now it was sold to become "The Wetherby Whaler" ! The fish and chips are still superb though. :D

It was like old times at Victory Park yesterday. At least double figures from MFC btw. It hasn't changed at all since we were last there, apart from the main stand and little away cover being re-roofed.
3400 fitted in easily, an impressive 921 from Guiseley.
We were musing on the fact how Nethermoor was deemed good enough for the Conference, it certainly was nowhere near when we last went there.
The Magpies flew out of the blocks, got it forward early and the big lad up front won everything and they hoovered up his knock downs. 2-0 up after 23 minutes there was only one team in it.
BUT football can be cruel, the Yorkshire club brought on a blast from our past, Liam Dickinson ( tore us a new on for Stockport in our first season, went to Derby for big money but got injured) a freak injury to Chorley's captain saw him subbed just after half time, then another one to the full back within five minutes and he was off, so they lost both goal scorers. Then Guiseley scored and started to really pile it on, only one team in it now and another feak injury when the keeper had nobody near him and he was carried off, three of the back five subbed within twenty minutes!! Poor luck on any team. Guiseley played some nice stuff and the new keeper was nervous, equalised then went on and won it, they have failed four times in the past four year so good for them. However, had to feel for Chorley, even though I didn't like the way they played!!
Good day, awful pitch, good game, great crowd.
Yeah

Actually Freez, they closed the doors by around 14.15 as the Chorley end was full so a lot of people were getting turned away. We ended up having to go around to the Guiseley end instead - and there was a fair number of neutrals in there I think.

Had to restrain myself from cheering Paul Jarvis' goal (I work with him), but there were some right characters amongst the away fans!

Good game to watch for the neutral - definitely a fair few Shrimps there it seems!

Yes they did close the gates, but only temporarily, they opened them again at about 2.35pm at the main entrance and everyone who wanted in got in.
Jim n Ken were in the away bit, stood on the grass, which was not allowed, however they could have probably fitted another 1000 or so by letting them on the grass down the side!!

also at this game. club recommended to get there early and parked up at 1.45 but not as near as i hoped.got to ground 2pm and large queues to get in. another big queue to get into social club but i headed for food. queue of about 70 in front of me. 30 minutes to get pie but worth it. as i joined queue i looked to two places i wanted to view game, main stand or paddock in front. both packed so only option was terrace behind goal which had a good view.
cant add anything to excellent report by freeez.certainly a game of 2 halves and at half time really thought chorley would do it.
one of my favourite grounds and not changed much over the years. marvellous to see it full. the club has had alot of problems with break ins and money has to go to pay for repairs, etc. they have started a secure our ground fund to try and sort this problem out. they also have to find money for a new roof at the home end. this will be taken down in the close season as it is rotten.
as i used to live in yorkshire i remember guiseley in the old yorkshire league playing thackley and emley. how they have progressed! i saw them earlier in the year in the trophy. there are 2 new small seated stands opposite where the players come out(the last stand burnt down). but i dont think there are any other recent changes. the bar belongs to the cricket club and the football club do not make a penny from match day. but plans are in place to build their own social and function club on the other side of the ground.i dont know what the criteria is for the conference but i presume it is just adequate.if afc fyldes ground(they have just erected a new 300 seater stand and new terracing in case they went up) reaches the standard then i am sure guiseley will too. location wise they will get some decent crowds with followings from northern and midland teams in the conference.
