Player of the season so far - half way point.

Seen as we have just passed the half way point in the footballing calander, I thought it would be interesting to see who all you lot think has been satr man so far....

My opionion is - Drummond - Looked like his usual self, and the balls he is able to pass, switiching play are sometimes incredible. Also he has chipped in with a few decent Goals already marking his goal against Macclesfield on saturday his 50th. A great start from a true Morecamber.

Now it's your turn, who, in your opinion, has been the best MFC player so far this season - Let's get a real thread going.

I thought Stewart had "only" scored 49 for us.

Stew seems to take quite a bit of time to fit into a team, has been like that at all (3) of his clubs.

For me McStay has been a revelation this season.
Howe, since the return of the prodigal son, has turned the corner and is starting to lift his game in many aspects.
Bentley, the rock. Proper centre half, awesome presence.
Stanners and Yatesy after a faltering start to the season for whatever reason, are both really producing the goods.

But far and away the best, so far this season, without a shadow of doubt.
Since his arrival the everpresent, Christie the Cat.

I'm sure the match day programme from saturday stated Stewart was one away from his 50th for the club before he scored against Macc. I'll apoligies now if i'm wrong.

Agree about Mcstay and Barry Roache is also a player without much recognition.

There you go then , i'm wrong your right haha. Programme must of just indicated it was possible for stew to reach 50 in the macc game. of course he would have had to score two. Sorry about that.

barry roche and rene howe by far - two great signings by a great manager in my humble opinion..

Roach Mcstay and Howe, Bentley and Drummond, in no particular order, all fantastic

I like McStay and think he's really made strides this season in his right-centre back position. With a taller and pacier defender may be able to form a great partnership when the time comes for a certain fan favourite to hang up his boots.

Barry Roche has also grown into what we want to see, a terrifying figure in goal with great reflexes, and at only 25, young for a keeper. Let's hope we can hold on to him for a long time!

Rene Howe and Craig Stanley have both shown flashes of real quality, and arguably have the ability to take us forward from where we are now. Unfortunately, both have a bit of an attitude issue in my opinion. Stanners is way too quick to react to any situation, and wheras most of the time (in our eyes) he may be justifiably frustrated, it's going to do him no favours discipline-wise, and can't be setting a good example to the younger players. Howe is more of a jovial character reacting to mental challenges on the field, but takes this a bit too much into his play, such as not fighting enough for the ball. If he worked as hard as Matty Blinkhorn does, he could be the player that Blinks should be - a top striker in this league who can consistently deliver 15-20 goals.

Fraser McLachlan hasn't been mentioned yet. Our form has improved since he has been brought into the midfield, which looked really solid yesterday (even though Macc were poor).

From the limited number of games I've seen so far I'd have:

(2) Fraser
(3) McStay

IMO Fraser McLachlan is lacking. The way he gives the ball away is at times extremly dangerous. yesterday he was ok but again gave the ball away while attempting to switch play. Also he lacks that one extra yard of pace to dominate the CM role. When Garry Hunter is back I think Sammy will change it around again and give Gaz a run in place of Fraser.

Whilst I agree about Fraser's passing, I think Hunter's tackling is equally lacking. Given the position Fraser is playing is mainly defensive, I'd give him the nod over Hunter.

campdave - I think Hunters tackling is second to none!? the way he gets himself stuck in and the way he jumps for his side is amazing. each to their own though. But for me Hunter is a better player.
