O/T Acer 5520 from PC World?

Looking to buy a lap top for my daughter, we're thinking about the above from PC World.

Problem is I bloody hate PC World but spec and price fits the bill.

We called into BB in Lancaster and similar model but only 2GB is on sale their for same price. Is it worth the extra 1GB and biting the bullet about PC World?

Advice please.

I didn't think BB were on your shopping list, didn't you have some problems with them? Whether you need the extra memory depends what you're using it for. If it's processing images then a decent processor and top-end graphics card should be top of your list and then memory. I get along quite happily with an Acer 7520 2GB but it's got a mean graphics card rather than sharing the computers 2GB of memory.

Depend's what your daughter is using. 2GB ram will be fine even if she wants to use the laptop for gaming

It's for a Teaching Degree at Uni...but what she does with it when she's there is up to her!

Sounds like either would be fine but I'd go for a laptop with 2GB of RAM and dedicated video memory than one with 3GB shared video/computer memory.

..it's just PC World that I've got problems with BUT their spec sounds better.

Somebody suggested buying over the web (Lap Tops Direct) and taking out a 3 year warranty.

I'm just not happy about buying over the web hence why BB / PC W

Acer laptops are available online from Tesco direct. Check them out, you might save a few bob too!!! and gain a few clubcard points

You can pick it up from Laptops Direct collection point in Huddersfield as well Neil. I always buy my laptops from there and have never had any problems with their customer service. If anything has ever been wrong with the laptop they replace it immediately.
