Just as well that the majority of SVs have only worn the red shirt on the terraces...

Julian Dowe couldn't even hit the back of the net when it was empty and in training.

I know, I watched him for 15mins after the rest of the team went to change, he kept training.

Sorry, I mean he kept trying, I was gob-smacked at how bad at volleying a simple ball he was.

Better than me though

Can someone just refresh me, when did he play at Christie? I remember he played at City and Sean Gallagher really rated him and to be fair, City and the Shrimps were much on the same level in those days.

Are you taking the piss ? You have to offer supporting arguments and evidence to justify including Sir John in a worst XI.

See Keith's earlier post - he included a very sound and well thought out reason for including Elam.

He didn't exactly set the world alight! I think we all hoped he'd be a successor to Justin Jackson, but instead barn doors and banjos sprang to mind.

I remember he was in the team that beat the then league side, Cambridge United in the FA Cup. It was on Match of the Day and the caption named him as Julian Doe - it would have been more accurate to spell it D'OH!

Read my comments on ye olde olde olde board for supporting evidence  To summarise, disliked him as a player and disliked him as a person even more.

Thanks. Surprised at that as he played for City round about 1977-8, so he must have been knocking on a bit by this time!

There is no way you could have a worst eleven and not include Alan Morgan.

Might even throw Jim Harvey in there as well. We used to collectively groan when he used to bring himself on as sub. :?

I know others who have watched The Shrimps for far longer than I, will know of worse times in the clubs history but that felt like a particular low in my time as a fan.

I don't know whether that's because of Leighton James playing, Leighton James in general or the apathy of the local people towards going to a game at 'The Pie'. It did seem or seems to me now like there was a very low crowd that day.

Was there a Darren Hughes that played at left back for a few games mid to late 90's? I seem to think that was his name, anyway if that was his name he quite possibly had the single worst performance i've seen away at Alty once. I'll go for him.

I'll also go for Mark Hilditch more for the fact that he had grey hair and a black 'tash than anything he did or didn't do in a Morecambe shirt.

I'll defend Andy 'Banksy Banksy' Banks purely for the fact that beyond the fact that he could let in the most innocuous looking shot, he could at times look like a genius shot stopper.

60 years old tomorrow, the International Declaration of Human Rights, Article 19 states...

Doesn't mean you're not talking bollocks though!!!!

Sir John is probably my third favorite player and certainly would walk in to my all time top eleven...
