FA Cup Draw

Postby RedRedWine1 » Sun Nov 30, 2008 1:28 pm

Draw is at 2:15. Seems a strange time to have it, a few other sides will still be playing when the draw is made! If you want to know our ball number details on the official site.

All respect to Donny given their current status, but a team we've played against a lot in recent years doesn't really capture the imagination. A plum draw might have given me some enthusiasm for Tuesday, but this one doesn't. Shout the lads on for me, I'll save the pennies I shouldn't have spent yesterday, and will listen in on World.

A sell out and a potential banana skin for them as they are on a really poor run of form. The last time we had such a good chance to get to the fourth round was 1962!

Sell out? No chance. Not just after Christmas and New Year.

Hardly. We would do well to get 3000.

Well Donnie will sell their end out. If we can't get a decent turn out from the town for the third round of the FA Cup, for only the fourth time in our history, then we've no hope in the future.

We do need to win another game before then though...

If we do get through on Tuesday..........

It needs a real campaign to capture the Town's imagination.

As Keith has said, a real chance to get through to round 4 for the first time in our history.

If it was against a Premier League or major Championship club then a sell out would be more likely. As it is, Donny will hardly be a major draw for neutrals.

i am sorry lads and lasses but are we this fickle now ??

its ONLY Doncaster Rovers

They are a Championship side We are at home, we can now win this ( if we beat the Robins).

lets remember where we come from and who we are

THIS IS STILL A BIG GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly! This is a HUGE game. Granted it might not grab the imagination quite as much as Burnley, Preston, Wolves, Sheffield Wednesday may but Donnie Rovers are in the same league as those clubs and in many respects, are as big, even if they aren't a 'fancied' club. Just because we played them in the Conference after they'd nearly been destroyed during their darkest days, this would be the third round of the FA Cup for only the fourth time in our history! We went to Ipswich in our thousands to watch a Championship side, we should be able to fill our ground! Are we already so big that playing Championship sides in the third round isn't interesting enough!!!???

You are thinking about it as a fan of the club. Neutrals WILL NOT be excited about the prospect of their local side playing Donny.

Exactly.

It's about the worst possible draw we could have got.

I agree, a championship side was the one thing we did'nt want really.

We're at home though, which is some consolation

I think that's a consolation for both clubs.

Pity it wasn't Arsenal though....
