O/T Jug of Tea

O/T Jug of Tea

Postby Mark S » Sun Jul 13, 2008 10:40 am

I dont want to take anything away from the superb debate that is taking place on the Sheldon v Archer ;) thread, but someone mentioned that the 'Jug of Tea' sign should be preserved for future generations.

I have done some extensive* research into this valuable artwork and can reveal that it is not the original! I dont know what happened to the original artwork but the current Jug of Tea piece is quite clearly a poor fake!

Take a look yourself. here is the original

And this is what we are left with

Notice the intricate detail of '2 PINTS, 4 CUPS' is missing in the later version. Even the cartoon burger has vanished.

Where has it gone? Who took it? We need to demand it back!

* a quick two minutes flicking around

Interesting little article though

A similarity, though, is that it seems to be eternally closed.

The Pot I use at work has been likened to a vase - a lovely size - the last few mouthfuls are usually a bit cold, but I'd rather that than 2 mouthfuls and your looking for more ...

... OK I'm a greedy bu**er !

I seem to remember the cafe by Hest Bank station had the brilliant 'Teapots for the beach' sign a few years ago.

Thought it might be a good name for a progressive rock band....or the 'Magic Bus' members on holiday.
