It might make us give our youngsters more of a chance in the first team - out of the 2 youth players signed this year, Taylor is a real find but I'm pessimistic about Bell when he has to compete with Bentley, Artell, McStay, Adams and Parrish for a chance, and how many of Ball, Jarvis, McCluckie, Langford and Jamie Davies got a league appearance last year?
In theory its a good idea, at least its the same for every club, though the most likely outcome would be that the youngsters would be on the substitutes bench.
At least the rule about being on the books for three years prior to their 21st birthday would stop clubs coming in for your best young players just to stick on their bench.
On the other hand there would be a lot of older squad players who would suddenly be surplus to requirements.
