Thanks for the messages chaps, it's eased the pain a little :D

Mick, I honestly don't remember telling you about the time I tripped in the garage on a previous birthday :o

Will be having a quiet scoop in the York at some point today, I'm guessing Mrs G has arranged a suprise because she wants me out of the way ( I think it might be one of those giant birthday cakes with a naked lady inside...fingers crossed  )

Can't wait for the season to start, I think we're going to suprise a few people again !!!

Have a good birthday Neil. Don't have too many in the York that you go home and trip in front of the rest of us.

Oh dear, have I given the game away!

"belated" cos I never sent you a card yesterday, or phoned you this morning, or flew over at lunch time with the banner.

Card...ok fair enough, not phoning......fine though it would have been nice, but i'd told everyone about the fly past and now I look a fool.....unforgiveable

You know, it may be my permanently rose-tinted eyeballs and I may be in for a huge disappointment but I'm getting more and more confident as the season approaches.
Not necessarily confident of winning the title or even getting into the play-offs - but more confident of having a team that won't struggle and, as you say, Neil, may surprise a few people.
Seeing how we struggled to really maintain the momentum towards the end of last season had me a bit worried but I reckon Sam has very quietly and skilfully brought in a potentially more consistent and solid set of players with the occasional signing (Carr and O'Carroll in particular) who could be really exciting.

It may go horribly wrong of course but I've seen nothing from Sammy so far to suggest we should doubt his judgment.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!
